What would you buy for the next "big thing"?

Well since this is an OT forum, the first thing I'd buy is Land, to store all my choice to purchase...

 

I have absolutely no interest in the "Next Big Thing" I am perfectly happy building and collecting period correct race car and hot rod parts.

Let the trend chasers worry about the next big next!

 

G bodies, fieros, fox bodies..... All that stuff appeals to an older demographic. The next big thing won't be cars that us boomers like. It's going to be the 90s - 2000s cars that 40 yr old millennials like.
Is be looking at stuff like NA-NB Miatas, especially the special editions.

 

Dent side or Bullnose Ford Pickups. A short bed being the more desirable in either 2 or 4 wheel drive.

 

Fox body mustangs are definitely on the climb right know but allway hedge your bets on the GM trucks the next generation up is 1999 to 2007 and so on.

Although the Nova sedan is pretty outstanding, we, as older folks these days are more into station wagons for our daily road trips or adventures along the Westcoast shoreline. Plus, Oregon is not too far away from So Cal. Ha! My wife and I have been there and back to So Cal, many times driving plenty of different cars and station wagons.

Earlier I drew what we would like to have as a custom hot rod Nomad Station Wagon. Originally, it was a 1965 Chevelle two door wagon, but over time, the smaller station wagon set up as nice as DDDenny’s sedan has more to offer. One being easy to fit into our small two car garage with plenty of space between cars for wider door openings. My old knee needs room to sit and swing in both legs for easy access.

But then, we needed another door and more access for our college age granddaughter when we visit. So, for her, the 327 would satisfy the sound she used to hear when her favorite 64 Falcon Convertible came idling down her street. It was a thing to run to the edge of the garage to wave at the owner and the rumbling convertible as it cruised by her house.

Don’t worry about getting on in age, our bodies are just telling us to slow down and enjoy life. We retirees deserve it. If it is a coastal road trip, then off we go. If it is to sit and watch the rain come down all afternoon, then out come the books and laptop for art work , for new designs as well as a few more stories from memory. YRMV

But, since your build is not a station wagon, get it running and enjoy those rainy Oregon winter days until the snow comes along to sock it in for some weeks… ha!
