Geez... over 4 years since I've posted on this thread... built a 60 F100 4x4 and a Model A sedan but I'm finally back on the coupe. Little bit of a change of direction under the hood but should be a dang good combo. 390, C6, and will get an aftermarket OD unit on the C6. It actually fits way better than expected with the 4x4 pan. The 390 is completely rebuilt so is the C6. Plan is to finish the chassis completely this winter so I can get back to the fun custom stuff. 20241016_121553.jpg 20241016_121553.jpg 20241016_121600.jpg 20241016_121611.jpg 20241016_121627.jpg

The valve covers will be changed to an early 352 set. These are just for mock up to keep everything clean inside.

Love it. Slick looking custom with a big engine has always been a favorite combo

I worked last night and had to take my boys to school and hit the DMV for a new license but I got out in the shop and made some motor mounts and modified the trans crossmember. It's sitting on its own weight now. Just tacked for now till I pull everything to finish the firewall. They should hold the heavy FE. 20241022_131359.jpg 20241022_131408.jpg

I absolutely hate floor work and I made a ton for myself with the huge C6 and ultra low stance. I bit the bullet and started building the transmission tunnel. Pretty big but I left myself some extra room under the floor and the stock seat still fits so it's all looking good. 20241114_131112.jpg 20241114_132440.jpg

Nice! The last shoebox I had was low enough that a good percentage of the driveshaft was above floor height. Gotta do what ya gotta do!

Thanks man! Yeah this on the entire driveshaft will be above floor level. The FE sits pretty high and the C6 is huge. It will all work out in the end and should be a pretty solid car

The transmission hump came out better than I expected. I'm really debating on making it bolt in so it's easily removable. Maybe with Rivnuts? I know welding it in will make the entire structure more rigid tho. 20241118_130606.jpg 20241118_130626.jpg

Rigid vs how likely are you to pull only the trans and not the motor and trans ever?

Factoring where the seat lands and how you drive I would probably lean towards welding it in.

Agreed. The trans crossmember drops out from the underside pretty easy so it won't be an issue if it all needs to be pulled. Hopefully it won't needs pulled once it's in!! Haha

Got the engine and trans pulled to finish weld the mounts and got the firewall patched around the transmission dipstick and 20241119_132126.jpg 20241119_132136.jpg 20241120_125046.jpg 20241120_125058.jpg trans hump mostly welded yesterday. Ran out of wire. Got up today and got some wire and another sheet of 18 gauge and built my notch cover. It will work as a nice shelf in the trunk too.
