I have that same unit, bought it 15-20 years ago. I just completed a drag and drive event with it in place the whole time, was nice to have reference information.

Went for a little drive in the old Chevy today, to look at a crappy old car to buy for LeMons type stuff. It was in Show Low, which is almost in the mountains. Was a bit chilly, but I survived.

The car turned the big 5-Oh. Again.

of course if you are going to put OT drivetrain in it, we don’t need the specifics yet. The year on the title is irrelevant. The body style is iconic and on topic as far as I can tell.

 

What happened to the Crosley?

 

Crosley is listed at 1600. I guess Jim wasn't willing to part with that much for what was there.

The guy with the Crosley has zero interest in getting paper squared away, so I lost interest in the car.

The Checker could be a 62 or something, eh? except for those pesky side markers.

I'll start a thread on it. Got home and unloaded it, now it's time to go for a walk, then start exploring the car. It's sitting outside for now, I have to make room in the shop.

Oh...Corvette on topic info...I had a fun drive in the little red car yesterday. It all worked as it should, I was happy!

Yes they were required after 68. But just like seatbelts, there is no law prohibiting people from putting them on older vehicles to enhance safety. Since Checker Cabs did not undergo yearly redesigns, it is very possible that some company put the side marker lights on their older cabs for safety and insurance purposes.

 

So if a body style is basically pre 65 doesn’t that make it HAMB friendly no matter the year?

If I'm not mistaken the HAMB has a "grandfather" clause allowing vehicles after 1965 to be on topic if the body style is a carryover.

Those Checkers are built like a tank, and fairly easy to work on as well.
I owned two of them, a white 65, which was my dads car and and a 67, the one that was primered.
The 65 had a good running 283, and the 67 had a a good running 327 with AC.


The caddy ambulance was a 65 Miller Meteor.
So cool that @squirrel bought the checker.

The A11/A12 was introduced in 1961 and continued into the early 80s basically unchanged so it should be good to go HAMB wise if ok by the moderators. They look like a typical 50s car to me. Cool car.
