I head to nearby Hanford, California
to pick up a custom engine at
    Hanford Auto Supply

I am there waiting when the
owner shows up - we start
talking - the core of the
    14,000 square foot building
    was built in 1907 - I sense
    a story that needs sharing
so I head out to my truck
    to grab my IPhone …

Then I see a couple guys
    headed in the front door

I was looking around for a machine shop when I was building my sbc for my model A. I happened to see a port on here from Tim and did some asking around and he came highly recommended.

The machining on the block was excellent. Quick turn around. Since then, anyone that asks me where to take the

Thanks for posting this. As a Y-block fan, I've heard about Tim for a long time, and follow him on FB. That looks incredible! I keep offering to sweep his floors and take out his trash for free, just so I can watch over his shoulder, but so far Tim hasn't called. May have to get on his list someday, even though I'm in Tennessee. There aren't many like him anymore. Where were the women that are often on his FB posts?:D

As I watched Tim explain to
those guys what a Y block was
    and showed them around …

Once again I was so fortunate ..

To be in a building initially
    constructed out of brick
    salvaged back in 1907
    and listening to Tim …

    I am so very lucky

    After my visit Tim
    loaded the engine
    into my trailer

That is a very good video Jim, thank you for taking the time to make it and post it. Tim is a great guy I first met him at TROG several years ago and see him at The Gathering at the Roc and Bonneville each year. Since I too am the owner of a Y block powered hot rod, he is one of my heroes.

Thanks so much for posting the video. We were lucky to be a fly on the wall in a place that is no longer supposed to exist. It was kind of like going back in time.

  9. Thank You !

One lucky day leads into another

    Serendipity Perhaps ?

    Because several days later
I was dropping off this engine
to Robert Taylor in a small
Texas town for a custom build

The name of his small shop …

    IMG_3811.jpeg

Robert was a nice guy and his journey
to starting his own shop starts when
    I unloaded Tim’s Flatty Build …

Robert’s story is here on the HAMB

Awesome video and thanks for taking the time to film.
Tim builds all of my engines and for many of my friends.
I donated to Tim the dragster frame hanging in his rafters because he takes care of me and has been my trusted friend for many years.
