Exterior and interior shots as well as some history. Here's Clarence. I bought it in February of 1973. May of 2024 at the SK-500. Photo by @Dan Greenberg 2003 racing Denise (@hotrodladycrusr) at the first HAMB drags at MoKan; note the she could have pulled 3 plug wires and still had more motor than Clarence had: At Bonneville 1998 (that's @BenD): : Old interior (with my late friend Ed Thornton): New interior:
Thanks for starting this thread, my wife has shown some interest in getting a panel (for utilitarian purposes..and an older one like yours). you've hit the ball out of the park with yours
Late '90s, found this nice running/driving (but rusty) '56 Chevy Panel for $500. Learned a lot about metal work on this one.
Hello, Several years ago, this two tone green/black Chevy panel truck was always on the road. We would see it all over the coastal areas. But, for some reason, it has been missing for quite some time. Then last week, it was seen on the roadway and in an industrial area of a local city. It is a showpiece for the Classy Chevy USA Company that has a nice website and business. The owner of the business had finished several other trucks and various types of Chevy Panel Vans and has a good following on Chevy parts and sales. https://www.classychevusa.com/ Jnaki The owner is a nice guy and the place has a good reputation for all kinds of parts. Check them out. He helped me identify some old Chevy parts, how they worked on the truck and gave me some ideas on old Chevy Trucks in the USA.
Funny you should say that. Back window is heavier than nuts and supports are gone, so the crutch works…. Did I mention heavy?
Sectioned and Channeled, used then abused. Left for Dead then tried to be brought back by a few unqualified dreamers. Last found by our own Spooky here and landed in my hands. Good solid bones, will consider Re Homing it, not just For Sale. You'd have to love it to take it on.
Clam shell rear doors. Seem to be more on the Suburbans, but can be put on both panels and Subs. I posted these on another Sub/panel thread. But, here's mine. Past: 1964 230 with a 3spd o/d 1954 390 with a C6 Current: 1956 261 with a 3spd o/d
Hello, When we lived in the Westside of Long Beach, it was a fun place to grow up. There were plenty of places to play and shop. Small specialty grocery stores, fun diners and on several blocks, a gas station on almost every corner. No, not like Starbucks, but there was plenty of gas and “full service” stations for the weekly fill up. One of the best places to get a bite to eat was this old stand alone building on the main street that ran the whole distance from Compton down almost to the Long Beach/Los Angeles harbors. From its own lot to having a popular speed shop next door was an additional invitation for lunch and browsing for new stuff. We used to see this Chevy panel van in the Westside of Long Beach. It was usually parked outside of one of our favorite places to get a bite to eat. The Santa Fe Importers store was a center of activity during all hours, but during lunch, we could see the local hot rod shop guys hanging out or picking up an order. Notice the 1419 Santa Fe Avenue address on the building next door, in the yellow circle. It was none other than the last Mickey Thompson Speed Shop with Jack Ewell at the helm. The store is still open and just as packed at lunch hour… today. A vast 77 year history in the Westside of Long Beach at the same location, just "spiffed up" a little bit, but still full of loyal customers... YUM! old Friday Art Then almost 60 years later, my wife and I saw this cool GMC panel van sitting on the side of a busy road. It was one of the best looking panel vans we had seen in many years. Jnaki Instead of a large sprinter van that seems to be a popular street cruiser these days, this old panel van could be set up for plenty of space to lounge around, sleep comfortably with drop down beds and still have space for a large refrigerator to keep things cool. If one or more of the bucket seats were on a swivel, then a reverse turn would make the interior like a cozy reading/writing/laptop journey work place. Now that would be our remote working spot, for out of the office work space. YRMV
