Het folks, long time lurker, first time poster. I didn't grow up in a car family but my best friend since the 4th grade did so I was around hotrods a lot as a kid and through high school. I had a few cruisers when I was young and when I was just about to start building an A roadster pickup I got the travel bug and cars took a back seat for about 20 years. Fast forward to 2021, I had some cash, some space and a friend of a friend had a rust free 32 ford pickup that needed about 6 weeks solid work to get it on the road... yeah right. Being away from cars for so long I was pretty green when I went to look at it and 6 weeks solid work has turned into three years at a friend's shop, a new motor and a bunch of work to get the chassis straightened. Eventually it will be chopped 4.5" have the bed shortened the same amount and sit nice and low. So while that's being put right i've started building a flathead powered 1925 dodge that may end up a roadster, RPU, or a tourer, just depends what comes up for cheap. I'm a cabinet maker by trade and my welding skills leave a lot to be desired but I plan on getting better!
okay so the pics tell the story. Theres a photochop there to keep me on track for what it's gonna look like one day.
Welcome! Great start on a good looking project. Like your "photo chop," how many inches you thinking of taking out? Is that what the pic shows? I personally would like to see it a little lower, maybe another inch, but that's just me. Thanks for sharing, keep us posted, please. Ed
Hey Ed, going for 4.5" out of the roof and bringing the bed in by the same amount. I've thought about it long and hard and if if it came down more I'd want to rework under the windshield to bring the bottom of the frame down so the bottom of the windshield glass is more in line with the bottom of the door glass opening of that makes sense. Next thing I'm waiting on is some bits at the metal polisher. Hopefully before christmas!
Another thing I've got lined up for the pickup is a Diamond T gauge panel. I got the top one at a swapmeet then the second off marketplace locally. I can't afford original Diamond T gauges so I'll be going with some Stewart Warner marine gauges from a 60's Century Sabre. The crusty looking panel will go in the roadster.
Welcome from East Tennessee. You've got a nice project there. May I suggest that when you post pictures that you hit the full-size button?
Welcome and cool project! What part of Australia are you in? I didn't realize just how big of a county you have until I was able to be down there a little over a year ago. Met lots of cool hot rodders down under.
So, do you know Oggie? He has been in Melbourne a long time and part of the car scene there. I went by his house when I was there.
Welcome to the Hamb, your '32 pickup is looking good and the frame is absolutely beautiful. This is my old '32 pickup, it's in Texas now. HRP
