I am parting out a totaled 58 Pontiac Bonneville. I do not have a shop manual for it and I am going nuts trying to remove the factory wonder bar radio. I got the knobs off but I can't get the chrome bezels to budge, there is a slot that looks like they would un-screw with some persuasion but I am afraid to that I may damage the bezels with to much hammering. Can anyone give me some help?

IF the have the bezels with the slot on each side of the knob shaft then they make a special socket just for those (or they used to).

I know gm did at least in the early 60's up. I used to have one just for removing those bezels but somewhere it was lost in the mid 80's.

You can make that type socket with a thrift store deep socket & your bench grinder. Saves a lot of $$$.

Tried a pair of straight snap ring pliers?

  7. . . . Or maybe a pair of those needle nose pliers with the 90° angled tips?

  8. Needle nose pliers do a good job. Also get headlight bezels loose. Some w/s wiper bezels loose
