    Only place I got dirtier than a coal miner at. You had to wear goggles to watch the races. Fast as hell and scary. Sorry it is gone.

  4. That red clay dust got into everything. The fried chicken they had was hard to beat.

    If we rained out at Islip early enough, we would call Flemington to see if they were running and pile into the car and go.

    I was invited with some other racers to go run in the street stock event, maybe in 1984, after it was paved. Really too fast for me with a home built car.

    The first Lead East was held there. Best one ever, despite the dust! It closed not too soon after that.
