I had a 37 for many years , it was in the weeds non gasser . Traded a complete running driving 100 % steel car for 32 , 3w Body , fenders and frame

To me these cars are a natural for gassers. This and the Willys are the standard for gassers.
    Great car....good job.

Root, agreed! Unfortunately, these also made excellent bodies for modified sportsman roundy round racers in the late 50’s and 60’s!!

  5. I was on the verge of buying this super solid 38 and someone else pulled the trigger a little faster

A couple weeks later I see the fenders and various parts for sale so I send the guy a message to ask what happened to the car and try to buy it.
His reply was he was cutting it up to replicate a sock car, I couldn't believe someone would cut up such a solid complete car for that !

Good score. My favorite pick for a race car or maybe '37.

You have an awesome car! Here's another cool '38 I ran across years ago. Some gassers look better with hoods and the '38 chevy is no exception. In other words, keep as much of the original styling as possible.

The rules stated a gas class car had to run a hood. Could leave the sides off, but without a hood it didn't run the Gas Class.

That's correct. Here's the Colson & Wood '41 Studebaker Champion Coupe in '63 when it ruled the track for multiple years in So. Cal. Notice the sides are removed. The '41 Studebaker Champion 5 window coupe makes a bad ass gasser since it ressembles the iconic '41 Willys. I'm lucky enough to own a nice/dry California original '41 Stude Coupe I'm hoping to build after my '54 Ford Customline Gasser build is completed next year. Avatar.jpg

More pictures please! My 37/38 is patiently waiting for its turn and I need more inspiration! My car is missing it’s stock firewall and I need to clean that up first. Very cool car, looking forward to more pictures!
