It's been right at 2 years since I started with nothing but a '30 2dr Sedan body, and last night it survived Coal-Powder-Blasting.
A couple of dozen more pinholes to take care of, but over all it's holding up well since I have created a Bantam looking body on steriods.
I guess I should say that I'm on the down hill run, but body work is for the devil.
One of these days, it will be a driver

Glen, did you have the coal powder blasting done locally?
If you did, let me know as I have a body I need done and I like the way that came out on yours.

Hey REJ ....yes, I had it done @ K&G Blasting in Hudson Florida.
There are on Highway 52 a few blocks from Highway 19 here on the Gulf Coast. It works really good, no heat damage and comes out really nice.

  9. I should say so! BTW, that trans tunnel looks a little wimpy.

Glenn, are you going to do the same rear end setup that you did on your coupe? The way that you set up the interior is the best I have come accross yet, by far the best coupe I have ever been in. I would love to have it or one like it.

The trans tunnels is all part of the '50's inspired interior design of a sports car.

Since I built this car 3" off the ground, AND I wanted a full, up-right seating position ( I'm 50 now  ) , and I wanted to position my eyes in the centerline of the windows, I fabricated a 'Truck-Arm' style rear suspension like I see on my NASCAR customers cars. I was able to accomplish everything I wanted, I kept the suspension out of the interior of the car, and was able to keep all of the room I wanted....kinda like having your cake and eat it too ;)

    Glen,
How does coal powder compare with aluminum oxide? Did you consider any other blast media?

My sedan has a fair amount of surface rust and I'm researching other media before I warp it with sand

    Gary,
I have no comparison to go by, all I knew is that I did not want sand-blasting. The Coal-Powder proceedure is easy on the metal and not abriasive. The guy that did it told me that even SOME medias can be harmful if the operator is not careful. My old car was thin in several areas, and I was VERY concerned going in, but he was right on, NO damage or warping at all. I would do it again.

Looks great... inside and out. Nice stance.

What is the over all length of the body from the fire wall back? If you don't mind.
    thanks, Joe

Looks good.I have another qustion for ya.On your lower trailing arms, how much travel did you give yourself on the top close to the floor? I see you have a small box up into the floor for clearance. I have sence found a wider rear end, and thanks for the help on that.I also have my frame built and looking to built something like the rearend set up you have but I am thinking of using front trailing arms from a late 30`s ford Axle with a buggy spring. So how much travel did you give yourself?

I have 4" of compressable travel in the rear suspension, and when the rear is fully compressed against the suspension stops, there is 1/2" clearance between the top of the trailing arm and the small ( 1" tall) wedge in the rear of the floor, which the seat sit's over.
