History G K Bernhard 1948 Anglia Gasser

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Straight30weight, Dec 2, 2024.

  1. Hello all, I have been fortunate enough to have purchased a 1948 Anglia G***er. For those of you that are SEGA fans, this is the current “Wicked 1” b/g Anglia, former “White Trash” a/g car. Everyone knows the car in its more recent trim, but I’m looking for its beginnings. It was built in the 60s by a gentleman named G K Bernhard out of Pennsylvania and ultimately ran blown b/g. I have found a couple pictures online of it but would love to know more. As time goes on and cars change hands, the history can get lost and I’d like it’s history to remain. If anyone has any early shots of it or knows what engine it ran, stories, etc, I’d love to know. IMG_5158.jpeg IMG_5157.jpeg IMG_5159.jpeg

You might try Quain Stott on here or Donovan Stott on Facebook. What are your plans for the car?

  3. Thanks for the reply. I see Quain hasn’t been on here in a few months and I don’t do the Facebook thing lol. I did try to email Quain but I don’t know if it was a good address or not.
As for plans, I’m going racing man! I bought it as a roller, with the Jerico that was in it. Short term goal (next season) is to get an engine put together to learn how to drive the thing, I’ve drag raced for many years but never with a stick. I’m not blind to the fact that there is a learning curve. Longer term goal is to build a small cubic inch high revving small block and occasionally run with the southeast guys (1 or 2 races a season). Low budget deal but maybe get it to run middle of the pack. When not doing that I’ll run local nostalgia stuff.

  4. Looks like the car was restored at one point maybe? IMG_1592.jpeg

  5. And it seems the car originally ran with a hilborn injected 283 and later a blown 283

  6. I was wrong. The car in this picture is not the original car, I’m told that this is a replica that the family had built.

The roof is different, as the old pic has a kinda poorly done chop on the door top.

  8. Thank you. I was having such a hard time wrapping my head around how they could be the same car, and turns out they are not. The newer pic is a clone.
