Is it for seatbelts? It came buried in pine needles with other miscellaneous nuts and bolts in this disassembled 29 roadster hot rod that was left in the woods. The car was built so stripped down I'd almost be surprised if they'd have run a belt. 20241203_180345.jpg 20241203_180331.jpg

Almost looks like a vintage trailer equalizer part.

shopping.jpeg Thats an ore lock for a boat. The wood ore goes through the round top part and pivots on the hinge and the pointy part goes into a metal part on the boat.

With what looks like might have been a spline shaft on the end, it makes me think it may be a lock or crank for a folding windshield or roof with the crank or handle missing. Is there a gear inside?

  8. It's a factory retractable seatbelt mechanism from a Model A.

Yes, it is splined on the shaft and adjustable like a headlight mount. No gears. The handle acts as a cam that drives the two plates together as if to pinch a strap

Well, the pinkish thing on the left shows about the same amount of wear and tear. They might go together.

It's part of the scrap pile.

  12. Yup! Throw it out, then find out it's worth a couple grand to someone thats been looking for it for 40 years to finish something he's been restoring. LOL.

I fashioned up a similar contraption, to pull my well pump, made so it slipped over yhe pipe and hooked to the union where the pipes were joined.
I’m sure that’s not what it’s for, but resembles what I fabbed up.
