  3. Hopefully 2025 finds me healthy enough to get the Henry J back to the drag strip, hitting cruise nights with the 41 since I just got that drivable again a couple weeks ago and moving forward with the current 57 pickup build since the 41 is out of the working spot and the 57 finally made it in there after nearly 7 yrs of ownership.

    Yeah...

My main goal for 2025, is to continue to wake up every morning, and still be able to wipe my own ass, when required.

  5. Last year with my son at home before college, two years left with the girl child at home so family first. Hoping for a few last hurrah trips and doing what he wants to do between homework assignments that never seem to end. Still hope to get some time on the '40 to get the engine and trans installed and go for a spin before years end.

As with the other "older" gentlemen, staying healthy is a big goal, then getting the recently acquired 32 5w dependable and roadworthy and removing/changing dumb things others have done to it. Hopefully drive it and the Buick more this year, but we have a house move planned for June so that will impact my garage time.

Thankyou. My brother has been doing the metal work on this car for several years now. We sit back & come up with ideas that take way to long for what it is..But those that get it, get it.

  9. I need to start on the ‘62 mild custom T-Bird for my wife.

  10. Hi Danny, thanks for reaching out. Getting old is getting old.
The coupe is coming along. Just haven’t had much ambition lately.
Hope you and Brenda are doing well. Have a Merry Christmas. Mark

I also want to continue the health streak that's been good so far.
I was hoping to get the body straight and maybe into paint, but we shall see.
Otherwise, fix little stuff and continue improving it. Winter here is not for a roadster, so I'll have the chance to blow it apart. Only had it just over 6 months so far.

I bought them a long time ago. Not sure if his name is Jim . I think it’s El CATRIN here. They are really nice. They have gone up in price for sure from when I bought mine.

If all goes well Clarence will be running well/correctly soon and will be making the trip to SK-500 and Lloydfest 2025. Probably Early Tin Dusters' Quincy Color Run also. This year's trip to Niagra Falls in Clarence got FUBAR'd so we might try that again. I don't know if we can do all of 66 from Chitown to Santa Monica but we'll probably do some of it.

I planned to put 10K on it this year but only made it to 8K due to mechanical problems. We'll have to do better than that next year.

  15. My plan for 2025 is to retire from the long haul rod trips. No more 2, 3, 4, 5+ night rod trips.
There are many events within a 1 day drive of my home that I have never attended.

Anyway, that should give me time to finish updates on my rod that I have not had time to complete as each year I have been doing maintenance in between my longer trips. Next step, down the road, will be to sell the rod. I know I can't do this forever and I don't want my family to have to deal with selling it.

In a weak moment I sold it to Charles, he is the president of Cherokee Rodders and he wanted it more than I did, he has some nice old speed equipment and had big plans but I saw the car at the show back in October and it still looks the same, still has the 4 cylinder. HRP

  21. My main goal-

Find a rich old woman who needs a younger boy toy. That seems like the best way to fund my projects!

Big year for me (and my wife). We're both 70, married 50 years this month. We're leaving the roadster in Sarasota, so it won't be a distraction. I'm going to, after putting it off for 4 years, pull the garnish trims from the DeSoto wagon and woodgrain them to match the dash. The Impala needs it's turn signal switch replaced and/or adjusted so the blinkers work, and I have promised myself that this year I WILL finally work on the T'bird. We'll see if I keep that promise... 5FEADDAD-E568-4A72-8E74-6E8105FCB61A_1_201_a.jpeg 375072DF-B4C2-44D6-91B5-16F4F10DE50D.jpeg 58CF8E71-1470-4C5F-8C06-814A7C752E79.jpeg 83FBAB61-08AE-468B-9CCF-568DBE570BF6.jpeg

My Woody is getting an overdrive transmission, a new rearend, and a radio this winter, and then I’m going to drive the wheels off it, hopefully get another beach camping trip in.

Also hoping to get some paint on my buddy Mikes ‘57, and then he can drive the wheels off it.

I replaced the turn signal switch on my ‘63 belair and found some internal components (sprung contacts) were improper in the new switch. I swapped parts from the OG switch into the replacement switch and ended up happy. The mechanism and canceling components are good, but the little metal contacts were not. Just thought I would mention my experience to possibly save you a headache.

Chipping away at my ‘41 Studebaker chassis is my current activity.

  27. Several posted here that next year they were "going to drive the wheels off of it".

Please describe what that means to you?

My plans for 2025 as of right now for my 49 Ford.

    Lower it
    Skirts
    Spotlights
    Nosed
    Decked
    Lake pipes
    (Maybe) shave the handles

    If possible some subtle scallops.

At the same time I wanna look at changing the mufflers to Brockman Mellowtones

Then either an overdrive transmission or a change of rear-end gears. Make it more highway friendly.

It might be interesting to see how many miles a guy thinks he can (or hopes to) drive his hot rod next year before "the wheels fall off". Maybe that first snow storm of the winter is the time when the "wheels fall off" this up coming year.

Personally, I have driven some hot rods over 13,000 mile in a single calendar year, for* multiple years. But usually my season ends when winter makes it first appearance. I too have used the phrase.

For me the phrase "until the wheels fall off" means however many miles I can drive until the hot rod gets parked for the season. That is the goal, pending an issue of some kind that may shorten the driving season.
I pray no one has an issue that prematurely limits him enjoying his hot rod this coming year. My goal is 8,000 miles for next year. I'm going to come back here and present the truck mileage very early in 25 to see where I end up at the end of 25.
Drive them until the wheels fall off.
