Seen this on marketplace, interesting how they did it. Maybe an engine for a midget ? " This is a 283 chevy motor that has been cut completely....it has the back 2 cly...has org flywheel starter dist to run...motor cut between third and forth cly on each side...welded up and made to run...look at pics very carefully....has its own run stand...I was told it was done 15 or so years ago....has been sitting for 5 years atleast...needs rewired. Gas tank cleaned...new electric fuel pump...one of a kind...900.00 or offer...located in elmira ny..." https://www.facebook.com/share/p/1CZwnzs8zN/?mibextid=kL3p88 .
I wonder if it would do anything more than be a novelty to run a couple minutes at a time. I went back and added the timing chain photo that I forgot, how does that even seal ?
I’m guessing that there were several of those Michelob Ultra’s or similar in the planning stages where it seemed like a good idea. Kinda neat but way more work than I would want to do for something like that.
If it runs and it looks like it does, That's Cool! Like Guthrie said may have been discussed around the garage while indulging on refreshments. Pat
This engine probably isn't HAMB friendly, but just an FYI there's an American made ohv V4 that is made out of that much hated but very popular V8 and is used in a motorcycle called a Motus....
There are a few cut up Chevys in the Speedy Bill museum. Most I remember are 4's, some cut lengthwise and others crosswise. I don't remember a 2 cylinder. I bet it shakes when running.
Neat! Some years back I remember seeing a Hemi V2 in a magazine (maybe Hot Rod?) that had been built for a Bonneville car, but I can't recall much else about it.
That's really neat. It looks fairly crude, but still an impressive amount of effort that went into that to make it actually work/run and be balanced. I wish there was more history on it, like who built it, and for what purpose.
Years ago, somebody made a Boss 302 V4. Did a really good job! It ran, but they could never get it balanced. I imagine it is sitting somewhere just like this one was.
There was more than Michelob involved. I'd bet on some mind altering compounds, mushrooms, tabs, who knows...
Even GM dabbled in some cutting down the V8s...who knows what went on in the engine design room. Certainly agree these fellas were pushing into complicated territory with a lesser supplied design room...and yes I'd share a drink over seeing that in a garage.
Seems like i have seen one made from a broken aluminim Donovan sprint car block in a motor cycle The Aluminum would make welding it all up a lot easier. I wanted to cut a broken Donovan 410" lengthwise to make a 4cyl once. Lot of work
