It would be perfect for hauling an A speedster to the races or in a parade. Might need to soften the rear spring stack a bit.

That's a great looking Lorry.
I've havested parts from a couple of trucks & sometimes wondered about a re-engine. Too many projects & not enough time available for them.

  5. Great looking chassis, wire wheels too! If we're taking votes, I vote this! Screenshot 2024-12-08 at 6.16.06 PM.png Screenshot 2024-12-08 at 6.16.13 PM.png

Happy December all you crazy kids! Still here in spirit, just a tad off on the CU. IN. and trying to make more wheels grab. The fun is still the same. IMG_3352.jpeg IMG_3348.jpeg

  7. I remember asking about that when it was definitely not for sale and parked up at Clive's. Great truck.

It is a good solid truck,BUT it is a bear to drive! noisy gearbox and the steering in HEAVY .My idea is a Nissan td27 with an auto box and Nissan Terrano power steering box -same power as my Nissan Cabstar and almost the same weight so should be driveable daily and the option of a veg oil /diesel dual fuel and can haul my Coupe to Pendine etc .................it could still be bought though ;-)

  9. Anyone ever hauled a banger in the back of an SUV?

I've got one at my folk's house that I'm hoping to bring back in the Jeep if possible. I don't think I'll be able to use my shop crane to lower it in the back, and I obviously don't think I'll be able to put a whole tire in there to set it down on. Maybe pull the head, wrap it real good in plastic, turn it upside down, find a burly friend and slide it in the back? Is this completely crazy?

Do it all the time in my Cherokee. Weighs less than 300 lbs without flywheel. Two people can manage it with maybe something to slide it up.

  11. That's great to hear, thanks. Do you set it upside down, or pull the oil pan... or just toss 'er in there?

No worse than having your overweight cousin in the back seat. use a 2 x 6 as a ramp and slide it up in there. Get er done!!

C'mon guys, if you're going to reference something from another post at least give us a clue as to which one.

It's really simple to click the quote button before you reply. Or if it's a photo, the easiest thing for me is to right click on the picture, click on copy and paste to your reply.

If nothing else, put the post number from the post you're talking about in your text.

    It ain't rocket science.

Haha, I looked at that picture several times and didn't see the motorcycle. Then, this morning it was right there between the race cars... same thing looking for tools in my shop.

My dad used to say, "I spend more damned time looking for something I just had than I ever do working."

Lot on my plate this year and finally getting the engine read to install. Transported the engine in a 2008 Chrysler van sitting on a tire from Denver to Durango. Photo shows how I installed my Weber intake on a header plate

  24. My day at his shop was cut rather short, but I plan on making a run down in January! I definitely will share my findings here! Here's a few sneak peeks to hold you over until I wrap up this Hal video!

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Thank you for the HAL video! Nice surprise to see the 5 main HAL midget engine I once owned along with the Twin Cam Green. The Green is now in the Bill Smith collection (painted red), the Midget HAL was sold to Dick Greene in Stuart Florida a good 35-40 years ago. I once had a NOS HAL Twin can head for an A or B block that I sold to Carl Loveless out in California. Wonder if that ever turned into a running engine. I think HAL made right and left cam covers so the lettering was right side up on both covers. Thanks again! Bob

Retson the Racer : as a side note to add to your HAL video : I knew Frankland slightly due to his being my late wife's father's car owner in the late 1930s(H.O."Herb" Manges, who was killed in the early version of the "69" car). It was related in a conversation with Frankland in the 1980s that he sold his "Tamarco HAL" for enough money to enable him to build the "Stagger-Valve Frontenac" that is now in the car, as that was the engine that was in the most successful version of this car in the 1930s & 1940s. After Franklands passing, the car was relocated to CA for a number of years, but now is in the Tampa, FL area with Franklands son Jamie.

@Retson the Racer well done mate, good on you for doing these video's.

A mate of mine is building this B, he builds vintage engines for work but this one will be fully pressure fed & we were wondering how others have sealed the oil gallery under the side cover, or if silicone was enough?
Or if anyone had issues of loosing oil to the valve chest
