  1. Hi Everyone, Need some help...Trying to identify the master cylinder cover ( er master cylinder also) sorry I should have take a better up close picture of the master cylinder..
What I need is a new gasket for the cover.. Ive order Dorman 42070 & 42071.. and what Classis Industries sells.. all too small.. The cover measures 2 3/4" wide and 5 3/4" long.. the gasket is about 1/4" or shorter or so... This is on my Nova Wagon... any help or suggestions would be great.. Try 42068 which fits Ford master cylinders, which is what you have, judging by the shape of the cover.

Or, I could be wrong....that gasket might fit the later Fords, but not the early ones?

  3. Thank you Squirrel ! I was thinking the same thing maybe... from the searches on covers.. the pictures I found were for a Ford... well I order a 42068 and see what we get and report

  4. well I received the 42068...looks like the search goes on.. again to small length wise....puzzled on this one... 42068, 42070, 42071...

  5. still looking for a replacement gasket for the master cyl cover... 42068, 42070, 42071 .. Ive ordered.. 42068 was close .. width wise perfect.. just short on the length... all suggestion are helpful.. Happy Holidays !

    maybe it's this one?

I just put this on my 70 Checker. It fits 67-70 full size Chevy cars and trucks with drum brakes. But it does not appear that there is a replacement gasket? At least rock auto does not list it.

But now you might know what the mc is off of?

Take the rubber and clean it up real well, might be a part number on it. I know on Mopar Master cylinders, the rubber lid seal has part numbers on them. If so look on Ebay.

I'm going to wager that that master cylinder is pretty similar to a
    Raybestos MC36239 or Or
    ACDelco 18M1027
= first gen drum brake dual master cylinder on a lot of GM including 68 Chev C 10 (computer did the bold type). Or
    ACDelco 18M1027

That is a common go to MC for dual master cylinder swaps.

  12. @squirrel so O'Reilly's here didn't have a NMC22000, but they had a NMC11421 he checked his listings... 70 Chevy full size with drums... bingo ! The Master Cylinder cover was a exact match and fit.. Thank you for all the help
