    Howdy.
Trying to find a set of caps/block-offs for the down tube flanges on a set of lake headers. The only ones I can find are for side pipes; the flanges on these headers are bigger. Seems like these should be easy to find, but I’m not finding them. Pipe is 2.5”, and bolt holes are 3.5” centers. Any suggestions?

  2. I have just made my own in the past. Take some plate steel, drill some holes to match the outlet flange, a sharpie to trace the flange with the plate bolted on, cut shape out with cut off wheel and finish shaping on a belt sander. High temp paint or ceramic coat. Install. Fin.

Yeah, I’ve got some aluminum plate I could use. I’d rather just buy some caps, bolt ‘em on and go. It seems strange to me that neither Speedway nor Summit seem to have such a thing.

  4. If you're gonna use aluminum, subs***ute the standard abrasive cut off wheel for an aluminum rated wheel or a band saw, the standard wheel will load up with aluminum and then come apart at high RPMs.

Sad to say that items that were once easily found at the corner muffler shop are now hard to find. They used to have flanges and block-off plates of all sizes hanging on hooks in our local muffler shops. If you have an old muffler shop nearby drop in and see if they have a pair rusting on a forgotten shelf in the back room. Otherwise, break out the Sawzall and some plate and whip out a pair.

    Thanks fellas.
I found some block-offs from a place called Midnight 4x4 -- 1/8" plate, $2.99 each. They're not exact, but I slotted the bolt holes and they work fine.

I have the luxury of a laser cutting shop in my town. I make a pattern out of cardstock and their product makes my work look professional. 4 flanges, 5/16 stèel w/ 6 holes each for under $25
