I guess Ford made them under license in Canada. Meteorpete, what is stamped on the shocks you are rebuilding? Warren
Can't say at the moment - I have 8 shocks in various stages but I'm pretty sure there are a few with "Made in Canada" stamped on them. What a great mystery! I'm sure someone over on the Barn knows the answer to this.
Some updates. Realized after I cleaned up my entire rear end that the bearing races are shot on both sides. Recall that my car is also an early '28 so it does not have separate parking brakes and has very slim rear radius rods. So, in order to rectify all of this @wuga sourced a later rear end for me and it has perfect bearing races and a decent set of gears/bearings. I can now upgrade the parking brake and use the later style backing plates to allow me to use the later style, more robust radius rods. Old bearing races (both sides were bad). Bearing races on replacement rear end. Old next to new. Also did some test fitting at @wuga's place of the T5 with the Vintage Metalworks adapter kit. Then dropped off the driveshaft and torque tube off at the machine shop to remove 11.5" (just like Dave at Vintage Metalworks advised). Note the early '28 clamshell in the photo which I will not be using. I also decided to have my motor rebuilt (with babbit bearings) at a shop not too far from me. I am expecting it back in January. I am also rebuilding houdaille shocks. I have 4 complete and installed on my chassis and am waiting on some valves to finish another 8 or so. So - the current plan is to paint and install the rear end with the Posies rear spring; rebuild and install the rear backing plates/brakes; and install the driveshaft/torque tube, transmission and engine! Still plan on being on the road for the next season so I need to keep on truckin'. Pete
