Like it or hate it. Listed by the Petersen museum. built for the Elvis movie Easy come easy go, and driven by the Joker on Batman. the asking price seems extremely high.... https://www.ebay.com/itm/256752954808?mkevt=1&mkpid=0&emsid=e11021.m164380.l178264&mkcid=7&ch=osgood&euid=bbf1aa4fb4cd4cb9a90375de32e764f1&bu=43188501397&ut=RU&osub=-1~1&crd=20241217055032&segname=11021&recoId=256752954808&recoPos=1
The On Any Sunday movie bike ridden by Steve McQueen is probably a better deal... The touring would be a strange addition to most collections, it doesn't fit in Bruce Meyers', Volo, or even Speedway's. The Galpin collection is the only one I know of where it wouldn't stick out like a sore thumb. Maybe in a Hard Rock Cafe... Very limited buyer's pool, even at a reasonable price. Historic, sure. It's current home at the Peterson is fitting, but they are moving it on. Who has been the caretaker(s) all these years? Was it at Knott's? Is there a collector that has a gathering of later George cars? https://www.drivingline.com/articles/cars-from-the-vault-1966-mongrel-t/ https://www.forbes.com/pictures/ehlg45flkm/mongrel-t/ https://www.66batman.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=8443
As a "non profit museum" the Petersen is required to sell their vehicles by auction. Since E-Bay is an auction, the Petersen often sells their cars there. They may have had a buyer and used E-Bay as a conduit to sell it. Set a high price and sell it quickly at a pre arranged "best offer accepted".
After Sam picked up his tools and left Barris built plenty of crap. George Peters Ala Kart and Chuck Kirkorian’s Emperor were two of his better creations but there certainly weren’t many.
I saw it only once and immediately forgot about it. Now, here it is, and I dislike it just as much as the first time. Maybe with my short-term memory, I won't think about it again.
Jeez. That is crazy. I agree with Fordors opinion. Once Sam Barris left the operation, very few Barris cars interest me post-Sam even in the slightest.
