I'll Start with my "THUNDER PUMPKIN", currently being prepared for paint. Started as a '74 Grabber, now back-dated, to a '71. Paint will be going back orange, but may change stripes. Thinking of something a little more '70s street machine. Was originally a 250 six cyl, now has a 302, C4 combo. Saved from a Clanton Alabama junkyard with the paint you see. 20240703_173958.jpg 20231118_121155.jpg received_1228382465219381.jpeg Screenshot_20231119_080053_Chrome.jpg

Little '75 Comet I bought for parts, but it was too rough. I got it running with my old 250 six, and sold it, to a young kid. FB_IMG_1638327054430.jpg FB_IMG_1634509944382.jpg

Great thread. Mavericks were really cool but didn’t really get the recognition they deserved. I worked on Kenny Hedman’s Pro Stock Maverick back in the ‘70s, it was one of the best looking Mavericks in its time.
I remember doing headers on a Chevy powered Maverick street racer back then. It was a real money maker for the guy.

I love Mavericks and Comets. I wish the new "Maverick" was named something else because it makes searching for a real Maverick difficult. I've been in the market for one for several years to build a turbo SBF street car.

Here's one that used to be all over YouTube before it was smashed up...

Here is the vintage version of how mine looked before I bought it, was a SOHC powered unibody Pro Stocker in the early 70's.

When I had it as a tube chassis car in the late 70's.

Dyno Don in the red shirt in the background. Loved this era of pro stock.

Horrible picture, I know, but this is my why. This is my dad, after returning home from 2 tours Vietnam, in 1971 with His new car. It would eventually become a full race car, that he sold when I was born. This is the only remaining picture. Screenshot_20241124_113641_Chrome.jpg

I posted a few pictures of the Comets we owned over on the “Street Machine “ thread.
    70's style street machines
Here is an article the featured both of them, I sold them years ago both still exist, the black GT is still local and the last I heard the yellow car was in Ohio.
