  1. Coupe and sedan have three door hinges, Victoria has only two.

so now I'm under the car... head scratch again.... the rod to plunge the brakes is welded also, no adjustment... so with the floor out,... I could reach up and push the brake peddle... the first half of the throw was nothing... then rock solid...another WTF???? so I notice when you press the pedal, the bell crank part hit the cross member and stopped travel.... a sigh ... and a ah shit.... I have to make all new brake pedal rods..... so lay'n there i I see that the position of the master is adjustable..... so I go get wrenches... sure enough... adjusted the master and the brakes work great!!! YAH HOOO... Ive been to county fairs in most all the western states... even IOWA... never seen anything like it..

so I go for a ride... got a little clutch chatter.... and the steering is more than 1/2 turn play...but I keep driving around and waving back at everyone, acting like I'm enjoying my self.....

so,... I tackle the steering problem.... I loosen the steering shaft... and go do the worm test.... no play,... jack the front up.. sure enough... steering wheel turns over 1/2 and the wheels don't move... so I go to the pitman arm.... I was just about to fall off.... turns out the box is fine..... but I'm looking at the steering box.....WTF.... theres no wires coming out the steering shaft.... so i fix the pit man arm.... and go for a ride.... YAH HOOOO... STEERS NICE...... so now.... I got to find where they put the head light switch...can't nothing...... the floors still out so I look at the other side of the master.... no wires going to the brake pressure switch...... ah shit... go to the head lites... wires go into the rad shell and are tucked in there.. same with the tail lites... so guess I'll need some wiring

  4. I don't believe this to be true. Show me a photo of a factory 1930 Victoria without slanted A-pillars and it's title and I'll eat my words. In fact, some would argue that there's no such thing as a 1930 Victoria, although published Ford production numbers would contradict that. The argument is that all Model A Victorias are 31s because they were introduced mid-year 1930 and therefore titled as 31s.

I have, however seen cars that were made up from sedan/coupe cowls and doors with Victoria quarters and rear bustle. One example that comes to mind is a HAMB build from 15 or 20 years ago called Agent Orange I believe. Here's an under construction pic – note the three door hinges:

Soooo, next on the list....the no lights.... I hate and want nothing to do with auto wiring... the car is 6 volt... from what I understand... the positive just becomes the ground side to switch to 12v???? the only wiring now is the primary curcet to get it to run and drive... as far as the lights just need 12v bulbs... but.... the coil is 6v and the distributor... that can stay or has to go???? the starter doesn't car how it's wired just so it gets voltage ... ive seen where they run the starter, and jump the bat with 12v... but, I could just do a volt drop there???? or.... how should I do this????

I just did this with my black coupe. Add the 12 volt battery You should just have to change the coil to a 12 volt and run new wires for the headlight/taillights amd whatever fuse panel you want. The 6 volt starter will still work you just have to watch to not try and crank it to much on starts. Doug

not sure what I'm gonna do with this car yet...... the primary start and run is done...6v.... might just add a light switch and relay... to have lights.... with a remote from column switch... I found a 12 circut wire kit for 30 bucks... so I guess I could re wire the car...but it would be easy to just acouple of the things it missing... stop by if you're out this way and check it out...

thanks for the kind words.... this is one of those cars that when I seen it , I just had to have it... it still has the finicky ford model a trans from 1931...all my other bangers have the 39....what a huge difference... it starts, runs, drive's and Stops, now as it should so the smart side of me says leave it... I even like the chicken wire roof...I remember walking the bone yards 50 years ago looking for just the right donner roof to fill with...but i'm sure theres a car/station wagon long roof thats the go to.... I even remember doing the ribbed van roofs...you had to take a 6' straight 2x2 with you to make sure the roof had the right radius other wise your car would have that fresh from the barber shop flat top look...

so this morning, I'm looking at the exhaust hanging with bailing wire... and leaking.. and thought... I can't have exhaust like this on my car when I own a custom exhaust shop... and looking over in my A stock pile....there's the header I bought a while back... so I think, I should
put on this car.... and build a split exhaust system with ho made lake pipes.... next I figure, I should just load it on the trailer and take it to the shop... both the welders I made are down there... so of I went...

I like it so I guess that works...
