A friend of mine told me this idea, and my engine stand now has a milk crate on it like this only right side up for holding tools and parts, too. Pic from the net, my engine stand is currently in someone else's shop:

@2devilles reminded me that I too think that the area under the engine while on the stand should do more. I had some "holey" angle iron and some cupboard doors to make a level area below the engine, I have some pans to put there so liquids/dirt etc drip into the pan and not the floor. IMG_2335.JPG

We call that "Redneck" engineering.........what do they call it in Sweden?

I did something kinda similar several years ago. I had a 10 ft sheetmetal brake and I wanted to bend a steel sheet to make a backsplash for a workbench we were putting a metal top on. I put the steel in the brake and I grabbed the bending handle on one end while the wifey grabbed the one on the other end. Try as we might, we could not muster up enough strength to bend the metal. Don't remember the gage of the metal but it was within the capacity of the brake. After a little thinking, I hooked the overhead crane to the handle on one end and put a floor jack under the handle on the other end. We got the bend started with her slowly tugging on the crane and me co-ordinating with the floor jack. When the jack ran out of travel, A wooden block was inserted and we continued on. My son still has it on his workbench and it turned out well...........so I say to you ...........GOOD THINKING :D

    Smile..........

Then there is the ultimate bathroom sink for any Redneck garage.. (But I think it should be a urinal):p

Don't see why it can't be both.

  17. I had a friend who always complained that his wife was too lazy to wash dishes and when friends came over he hated that they had to pee in a sink full of dirty dishes! HRP

I've played drillpress Russian Roulette too many times. Have a vice, and a stud but am often in too much of a hurry to clamp something properly. Have had more than a few items bind up in the drill bit and swing, mostly harmlessly, sometimes destroying the piece. Smart enough to keep my fingers away, but too stupid (or lazy) to clamp.

Saw your photo of the clamps, and bought a pair from eBay. Cheap, and delivered quick. They are a real gamechanger, and so fast to use.

    Thanks man.

    Cheers,
    Harv

fat girl? your really gonna need a longer handle, with one that short your gonna end up with only one cheek on it, there by cutting the weight advantage by half. course worse thinks can happen, but I dont want to go there. so use your imagination if you dare.:oops::eek:

Have you ever heard "Beer Can Bob" by Gary McMahan? He lost his cowboy hat in his new lady's flank loading her into his 4x4 Mustang.

Now I understand why they put their chew in the urinal. They are just trying to get the flavor back.

How about a suggestion on how to magically convert all your toolboxes in to "Snap On" toolboxes and impress people that visit your shop? Bout $5 ea on Ebay for those of you with taste.........:p

    Snap On Emblems 2.JPG

Note: You could hold all the Snap On tools I own in one hand. ;)

My one Snap On tool came in a box of stuff I bought at an auction.

HOWEVER; to get this back to tips:

I use a sharpie to mark the back of all my gloves with L or R. Working gloves, welding gloves, wood stove gloves, etc. I don't have to look to see the thumb to know which hand a glove goes on. Seems like such a small insignificant tip but I like it and keep on marking all my new shop gloves. btw; when I take them off I always lay them palm side down. That's a habit I've had for many years.
