    Hello,

When those large clear V8 motors came out on the local toy store shelves, and the full scale model moving up and down on the display shelf made our hot rod future, possible. My brother and I just had to have it. Our dad listened and said, “Perhaps for Christmas…” but, he did not walk out of the store with a kit in a bag. Even if it was one full size kit for two brothers was fine for us.

So, we waited weeks to see if we actually got a clear view large engine kit. Upon opening up the large present we knew from shaking the box, it was as displayed, in a million parts. Immediately, we took out the parts we knew should go where they are in a real V8 motor. Just sitting on the block on the stand was how it all started.

Well, as the story goes, two brothers with two ways to build this motor, electric power and all. I wanted to glue everything together as per instructions. My brother wanted to put it together without glue and see how far we could go without it frozen in time. His idea was so that we could put it together again and again. My idea was to see it move with a flick of the switch.

By the time the present was opened and displayed, my brother took precedence and started putting together every little piece as if he/we were actually building a real v8 motor. Heads over here, pistons/rods over there, block as the center piece of the giant puzzle. It was a fun project and no glue was ever used. The hand cranking was the only movement we saw...

Later on, we gave the whole project to our cousins and we never saw it again. So, did they glue everything together or did the assembly/re-assembly project get finished, over and over? YRMV
