just a FYI... this is not my dream car, and would I build it this way, probley not... is it worth changing, as in do over ,definitely not... what it is thou, a real nice driver, rides smooth, rattle free,. starts at tap of the key, and real lot of power... stops and drives straight... so I'm happy with it...I got 2 whole yards full of old cars that rattle leak oil,.. go slow...start when they want.....

so It 'looks like rear needs to come down a least 2''.... maybe 4... It's buggy spring and split wish bone... the trunk opens rumble... so thats the only problem i see... gonna be a bitch to tackle with the body on... IMG_4122[9425].jpg IMG_4123[9426].jpg

Please be critical of these car picks... say what you see... When I first looked at this car in the day light , it was EEEW....Sum ting wong...

    IMG_4074[9405].jpg

my first thought was... wheels and tires gotta go....

    IMG_4280[9467].jpg

so with that done it's EHH...still not there...to me the back needs to come down... and if starting from a scratch build alot...the tire difference is 4''--- 26 front and 30 rear..

the goal is to get to ahh,...

For me, the new wheels are all wrong. The old ones looked better, but still not right.

With a 26" front and a 30" rear you have 2" of tire rake, not 4"....

as far as the wheel choice.... it was tuff... bolt pattern is 5-41/2... going steel wheels I'd half to paint them tan to match interior... might still do that so I can get more positive off set in the rear... but the easy way out was chrome... next.... the mooneyes yellow!!!! too bright for traditional.... trying to make this car have some type of identity... it has more error than era....
pulling the body off and starting over is still a thought... but not something I can or wanna do

just what I think here... the lic plate needs to move up to between the tail lights.......and the wheels need to go in an inch or so each side.. the gas tank gone and rolled pan are wrong for how high it sits.....??????????????

I think the rear tires sit out just fine. What if you did a chrome nerf bar in front of the rolled pan with the plate mounted to it and the exhaust all the way out the back. Could help?

The chrome wheels look like they are trying to compete with the yellow for attention.
Have you thought about something like this?:)

Not sure what those new wheels are, but they look not right. Maybe traditional if you squint a lot. Did they come from Jegs or Summit?

Sits pretty similar to the one with the yellow top on it. The wheels feel a little contemporary but it’s your car you won’t ever make everyone happy just aim for making yourself happy. The new wheel and tire size is much much better

I’ll see if I can photo shop the rear nerf idea later today

You asked for in opinions, you got it. The critique of that wheel choice is valid. Those would look OK on a late model muscle car, but they're too "street-rod" for that, unless you're nostalgic for the early 90's.

In my opinion it’s steel wheels or nothing on this one tbh. Wether they are painted or chrome is not too much of a deal breaker, any alloy wheels will give it a street rod feel

Also I’ve found that things described or named ‘old school’ are almost always not that at all lol!

I'm pretty sure I got experience when I bought the wheels, thats what you get when you don't get what you want...for me the tires are right.....but the wheels are ehh in stead of ahhh..but it did get me on the road...wanna find some steel wheels 6 wide with at least 1'' positive back space.. and 4's for the front thanks for posting..
