Saw this one at a local show

 

Belongs to a Fellow HAMBer. Can't remember his name tho....

 

Not to many Maverick funny cars that can remember. L.A Hooker, Atlas Oil Tool Special and I think Mickey Thompson ran couple also.

 

As a young teen, I was talking cars with one of my paper route customers. I said I liked the then new Maverick. He pooh-poohed the Maverick saying it looked like an old Henry J from the side.

I think it looks more like a grown up mustang II.

 

On the pass before this I watched the hood (FG) go sailing off over the guardrail about midtrack. The day started off bad too when the fiberglass front valance panel snagged on the trailer ripping it half off, so I took it off, did look funny.

Not a great copy of the photo, grabbed it from the internet…. It was stunning in person, candy red, candy blue and pearl white. Earl Wade SOHC.

 

I just remembered that I was able to find the shop here in Portland that Bill had make the original fiberglass parts, he still had the molds, the guy basically did boat repairs, took the valance panel mold to another local guy that did fiberglass work and had him pop one off for me.

 

My bro's 302 Grabber circa '82 - check out the fresh Nike AF1s. Lot of good times in that car.

 

I think that's a former Gapp & Roush car.
