I thought this was an antenna bezel but lately I think it may be a dash bezel for one of those cable pull air vents. No luck on either as far as I can find. What say you? I'm just trying to ID some loose parts instead of trashing them. Thanks
Hello, In looking at the base by itself, it looks to me to be a mount for a roof top antenna. The base is almost at the correct angle to fit a curved roof. The angle of the hole could fit an antenna wire and fitting with the extended rod or short one piece rod shooting up in the air. Similar to our dad's first 41 Buick fastback sedan. These days, the modern version would be the “shark fin.” But, in the early cars, it could have been the precursor. or years later, his black 49 Buick Roadmaster sedan that took up a lot of space... Jnaki We have had foreign cars with roof top antennas and early cars seem to want to pop up in my old memory, with a roof top antenna in front center of the rooftop location. YRMV
My guess would be a windshield wiper tower. Those rooftop antennas would swivel and didn't have a base like that.
It's the kind of thing I'd buy at a swap meet for $2 figuring I can find a use for it. Maybe for a choke rod or something. Then five years later I throw it on my $5 table at the swap meet, and somebody offers me $2 for it. The circle of life.
