Looking for someone to make a QUALITY custom replacement for the stock 1936 FORD RADIATOR SHELL EMBLEM. I want to replace the original apx. 2.1"x1.00" oval with a custom emblem, but want to avoid a cheap vinyl overlay or plastic 3D printed stick on. I would prefer a metal based replacement with chrome and enamel or porcelain, with quality similar to the original. I am building this as tribute to my dad, and would like to replace the original FORD script and blue background with his initials EMM and a black background. ANY leads or help with this is appreciated. Thanks.
Scan and CAD then 3D printing to create a mould for a metal casting which can them be chromed and enamel painted.
Motorhead jewelry is the place to go for your need https://www.motorheadjewelry.com/ Andrea had made several things for me and the quality it top shelf
Metal 3d printing does exist. If you have someone who could design the badge for you : STL format for 3d, STP for machining. Because the design part can be very expensive.
Update on my search for a custom grille emblem for Legacy '36: Steve Smart and the crew at Billet Badges did a GREAT job of creating a custom emblem with my dad's initials. They were receptive and positive from the first inquiry to delivery of the top quality custom emblem that will be an integral part of a project meant to honor my dad. It is difficult to capture just how nice this emblem is in pictures, but I have included some here. I highly recommend Billet Badges for anyone looking for beautiful, well crafted badging at a reasonable price.
More like $300-$350 range BUT it is milled from one thick piece of billet (instead of bending a thinner piece), custom fit to the bull nose, mounting stud and plate, a one off made EXACTLY to MY specs. Well worth the cost. The last thing I wanted was a cheap, 'stuck on' letter look.
ALSO, I looked into a cloisonne style emblem, more like the original, BUT it was hard to find ANYONE to do it, AND the cost STARTED at $1500. Billet Badges went above and beyond, and understood how important this project is to me. They suggested sources for fonts, designed a superior mounting system, and kept me in the process every step of the way. Ed.
Thank you! That is actually a reasonable price. I may have been able to whittle something like that out of a chunk of aluminum. But I would have had more than 10 hours in my crude attempt. So dollars per hour it is a good deal.[/QUOTE]
That looks Nice ! Just do not know why so hard to find have Items made with all the Modern technology Or good reproduction parts.. I think about all details on part's Made 80 plus years ago , Belt driven Manual machinery Most changed parts each year or several model's in same years , all the different Tool , Die, molds changed each year , I just wonder if parts / Vehicles where made maybe for 7 months, then 4-5 months down time to change all tooling for the following year/production? Or One plant / factory made One 10-12 mouth's then there was another plant / factory retooling for next year / model . Back & fourth situation.
Within a 100 miles radius from me there's about a dozen chrome and related shops, only 2 accepts to do one off, only one does only this and is the best at it. All others do industrial stuff : no headhaches, no Karen customers, only clean new parts, all in all easier jobs for the same money so they don't want to bother. Even if you have all the tooling doing one off or very small run you might not get your investment back and end up with parts sitting on your shelves for years. I have a car for which clean hubcaps are nearly impossible to find because they protrude a lot, a guy wanted to make a small run, around 50 people were interested, a manufacturer made one on his dime, adjust the tooling then came up with a relatively affordable price, people asked for a discount, manufacturer agrees. A****st the 50 original people about half didn't want to spend barely $600 on hubcaps (expensive but what is the other option?) and of those left some wanted another discount. The manufacturer never answered after that, do you think he'll agree to do another small run of anything? That's why you don't get the parts you need for your cars.
