If the car was sold out of state the vin might still be in the system. Just because Cali doesn’t keep them doesn’t mean everyone dumped the smog exempt cars. Just a thought.

Most states dump the records after the car has not had new tags purchased for a period of time. My state, Mn, its 7 years. It used to be if you had an old paper registration , what you get when you buy plates, that was enough to get new title no matter how old if its in your name. Now, thats no good and they consider it no record after 7 years period. So, Dan's car records would depend on what state it went to sleep in

The problem is no one has the VIN.

The car went from California to Wisconsin, then to Indiana, and who knows where

Dan @Keyz28 would have to do that. He posted it. I just wanted to be sure you saw it. Shure looks close to the red car it became.....

Looking at the red ‘57 closely I believe I see A arms on the front. This would indicate this is the wrong car. Mine didn’t even have any way to mount A arms

Also this red ‘57 has a stock dash. Mine was removed.

I know one of the easiest cars to pull off the frame and maybe due to common rust the most taken off are tri fives. Dashes are an easy fix also. But i figured as the builder you may recognize some personal mods to the hull.

When I sold the car there was no hint of rust, but many years have past. If T has photos of the rear end that will revel a lot.

Here is a pic that Dan posted on page 3 of the rear axle. it looks now though that the latest red car has a narrowed rear end and has wheel tubs.... may not be many fingerprints left after 50 years. If it is the car there should be holes in the rear floor pans where the seats were mounted and evidence of a lot of floor repair where the original setback engine sat, and evidence that the dash has been replaced as these were originally spot welded, it would be tough to duplicate that. Has anyone tried to contact the seller and ask these questions??

Thats a Pontiac rear axle. I live about 125 south of Stl and about halfway to Stl is the start of the horrible rust belt. Tri fives suffer badly even where I am.

I live in the heart of the rust belt. Surely a "special" car like that would have been stored winters....

Dan, does the cowl and firewall look right? Frames are easily changed on these cars these days. Cage look close?

Can someone that has access to the ad make contact with the seller and get a phone number so Dan can call and ask questions about the car to figure out if it is his old car????

I’m sure most of you notice that the car shown is a BelAir and not a 210. Yes you can add BelAir trim to any ‘57 but most only add the billboard and not all the trim. This red car is full dress BelAir

The belt line trim is not Bel Air. As well no upper side glass trim. IMG_3614.jpeg

Does the cowl hole and firewall tell the tale? Does it look right?

The cowl does not look correct. 210’s never had belt line trim that I’m aware of.
