  2. I'm scrolling down the page and,POW! 49 ratfink's pic pops up. What a staement! That's a really nice piece.
FlyingP---me thinks ye gets it, boy. Thanks for the props. Liked yours a lot, too.
Burny, that's a great story well worth the read. Reminds me of a scene I animated of young Abe Simpson on a south asian island using plane parts to rebuild Santa's sleigh after Monty Burns shot it down. The most obvious difference being your guys really lived it. Dad served in Japan so these storys are close to home.
Surfmonkey, I wanted to compliment you on your stuffs, too. I;'m just like you; a frustrated working artist drawing dozens and dozens of pictures a day, makin' money for the man who doesn't even like the MAN. I really want to break out on my own and turn my passion for cars from a hobby into a vocation.
Thanks to all for sharing your talent.

    Okay three questions
    1) what is the size of that piece?
    2) what media is it in?
    3) who do I have to kill to get it on my wall?

    1) what is the size of that piece?
a)22" x 24". .....up to 2 times that size. or smaller

    2)what media is it in?
    a)microsoft digital image pro

3)who do I have to kill to get it on my wall?
    a)my ex-wife

...just kidding about the ex wife. never been married.

this is a photo taken at the medium setting on my 8 megapixel Canon at Famoso Raceway during the CHRR this month. it was manipualted with my photo editing software using an unknown combination of filters and effects to achieve this look. it was straightened, cropped, lightened, darkened and skewed.

the size on my computer is 1575 x 1752 pixels. this gives a good clean print of 22 x 24. at about double that size it would start to pixilate beyond what I would think would look good.

    here's the original photo ................................................................[IMG]

SSHHH, we shouldn't discuss it any more on the internet. I do have some extra paralytic agents in my pocket though. Strickly for medicinal purposes.

I don't know what pixelate means, but I need one of those in the 22" x 24"' size.

It means that when you blow up the size of an image the edges get all fuzzy or jagged. You have to start with a really high res scan or original to get an image to look good 22" x 24".

If you take a little tiny image and blow it up it will look like hell. See the examples...

    Just to let you know.

My son (11 years old) completely flipped out about this particular picture. He printed it from another computer across from me and is now in his bedroom trying to duplicate it. Not trace it. He wants to dupliacte it. Good stuff.

He digs wrenching on the car with me but doesn't hold the HAMB high on his list of sites to visit yet. Then he finds out that Steve Caballaro is on this board (for those who don't know, my son says he's a hard core old school skateboarder) and then I show him the weekly art show. This particular picture had him standing here with the "whoa" face. Pretty funny.

Inspiration pops up in the strangest places. Not that this place is strange mind you.:D
