Hey how’s it going fellas, I recently got this 1941 ford coupe I am trying to find out some info if anyone may know..

So I was told it was an original Lynwood Ca. Car that the chop done was done late 50’s early 60’s possibly. Was gas welded, sitting on original chassis.

I noticed that under the trunk lid there was signs of it being blue at one point in its time..

I wish I could give more info but that’s really all I was told when I picked it up..

I also found and picked it up in north county San Diego (Escondido)

I’m going g to attach pictures to see if anyone may have some sort of clue to where I can start looking to look forward to finding out where this one may have been done at..

    Thank you in advance

Welcome to the Hamb...that's a pretty awesome start into vintage Hotrod Custom...congratulations...

I'd make sure the paperwork is taken care of, ie ownership...Vin#

You don't want to pour your heart and soul into it only to find out something is crooked.

Not trying to scare you but once it's all in your name, you have a canvas to bring to completion. Know and verify where the Vin is and protect it when restoring as in plate on firewall or numbers in frame. Really sharp looking ride @Alex lobos and you're in good company here with connections for your many steps regarding build and history.

...A friend of mine from Smiths Falls has one similar to yours that has History dating back to the late 50's...his is more Hotrod than Custom but I thought I would share as it may have been inspired as yours may have been by those little pages back then.

What's your plans...Custom?...I think it's where it was heading. That's what I'd be doing.

I plan to go all traditional custom with it from the chassis build to an ‘53 olds 88’ going into it

Sounds perfect Alex. Nice to hear coming from a younger man as yourself. It's really understandble how alluring the timeless styling of the past can be and the fact you've reached back for inspiration is really great to hear. Please start a Thread on the journey and I suspect this may be just that.

Alex, I thought of this Custom when I saw yours. You may find his Thread and Ride inspiring...I did...in fact I've been snooping for it since I saw your Thread today...finally. Whats great about his build is its a new build as in what yours will be, carrying on a dream that started many moons ago...I suspect following your journey will inspire many as well and of course end with a new beginning...driving it...

Funny that you should say that.
Looking at the pics I think about the one that I owned almost 3 years. ( tho nicer looking )
It was stolen the day after I sold it.

That's exactly what I mean. Where is the VIN on these Fords? I'm not trying to scare Alex away...it's been said many times here to get things set in place early.

We recently had a theft ring up this way busted (still unfolding) involving classic cars and many people unknowing to what had transpired had their vehicles impounded even after owning them for years and spending great sums of money in making them theirs. They fell prey to the seemingly legit operation.

So things are not the same any more really...and this is not a new problem...it's just worse now...your best move at the end of the day is get things registered...if there's any bad news it would be terrible, but the losses if you pour blood, sweat, tears and more money could be much more devastating.

Alex you may not even have an ownership, but a bill of sale as thats not uncommon with oldies, that said still get it legally in your name with a VIN...newly issued or update the current one you may have to yourself.

There are many Threads on such here and it seems many States have differences albeit that may be changing.

What's the latest, any updates...was there any glass with the Car?

I haven’t gotten to get to work on it yet so far it’s it’s been sitting over on my bosses property for now till I can cash in my chips and get a new place with a garage to build my own small shop in.. such as this one out of an old mini zing been keeping this pic on my phone for a few years now but it’ll happen in this next year!!

keeping it to a traditional custom build from frame up..

Oh and happy new years fellas may the new year bring you all love, prosperity, health and success!!

That has a very nice chop to it. Whoever did it knew what they were doing. They got the quarter windows right, kept the drip rails, and got rid of the hump at the back of the roof. Gonna be a cool car.

dad bought a '41 coupe when the war broke out, and, apparently, "robin's egg blue" was the hot color in 1941!

That is one of the nicer looking chops on a car that is all too easy to screw up the chop on especially around the quarter windows that I have seen.
I'm partial to 41 Fords as my dad had a 41 Convertible when got back from the South Pacific after WWII and met my Mom and traded it for a 41 Buick fastback about the time I was born.
My Buddy the late Paul Harper redid this padded top convert from a basket case that had been customized in the 50's.
A bit of inspiration as far as stance goes.

A few more shots of it in this album. He had one of the best eyes for getting a traditional custom right of anyone I have ever known. https://photobucket.com/bucket/ddc4...scrollTo=e5158078-931b-43df-b886-a1184e05b263
