ha! I never did say huh. So the old boy put a new tank in it, some how it must have gotten some moisture in it, and corroded. Had 3 fuel filters, All of them were plugged up. I only knew about one until I got it home. But I think I was boiling what little gas was getting through. Finally it is starting to clear up.

Nice story!!! Most 13 yr old kids don’t want to drive to the convenience store to get milk with their parents.

Just as a tidbit of trivia........ When Ray Brock took "Suddenly" the '57 Plymouth Savoy with the 400" Hemi to Daytona in '57, he flat tow'd it there with his mother's '54 Olds.... No problems, from LA to FLA and back.

Both of the ladies were very happy. My daughter and I had an awesome time.
Actually looking at doing something quite similar with a 63 c-10 outside of Salina. She is excited to tag along again.

Bored on New Year's Day and thought I'd give an update on the '54. I have since pulled the transmission and had it rebuilt, still needs some tuning but is really not a worry anymore. (It wasn't shifting out of low) found the seals were original and rock hard. Pulled the driveline and had the fellas at work balance it and throw some new joints in it.
Replaced the front king pins, lost a rear wheel bearing on a cruise through Custer State Park. Had a few small things, like radiator, and heater hoses start leaking so I replaced them. IMG_1285.jpeg

We tried selling it for most of the summer as I got bored with it. No real action on it, so I decided to start finally making it "ours". I stumbled on John Vincent's '54 olds and really dig the look. Will do a few things to kind of emulate that car.
I ordered a set of 3.5" wide whites, cleaned up the wheels painted them black and added a gold wheel lip. I cut the stock lip off the fender skirts and added to them to make full fender length skirts. At last years swap meet I found a set of '51 Stude caps that I will run. Really hoping to stumble on an affordable set of premier caps. I lowered the rear another inch, new shocks, away bar bushings, and rebuilt both brakes and lines. Also working on replacing most of the steering parts and/or "rebuilding" them. Front shocks are super worn but are $800 to replace. Not sure what my plans are there. I am in the market for some Cadillac dagmars if anyone can help out there. Ordered several colors of acrylic sheet, to make some custom switch and knob covers, we will see how that works. Will get some pinstriping done this summer hopefully

How much has the girl driven it? She should be learning how to drive in that car.

Ha. She is pretty spooked on driving so far. Not sure momma would let her drive this one.

$800? Is that the price for rebuilding yours? Did you check applehydraulics.com?

Momma can’t protest if momma don’t know!
Just take her out and then fake a heart attack and tell her she has to drive. After she slides behind the wheel at 30 mph level with her and tell her you were faking and she is doing great with her first lesson.
