Saw interview the other day with Tim Allen promoting his new series which debuts tomorrow. He’s not a bad actor for the roles he’s had over the years. The new series is apparently about a restoration shop owner... Well see how it goes!

Edit: thread title should read “a new...”

I am going to give it a try too.

  3. At least it should be reasonably funny and being a "car guy" maybe he will get the details correct.

Tim’s show should be worth watching, we could be the unofficial “ fact checkers”!

Saw a commercial and it looked ok.
No Debbie Dunning or Pam Anderson to brighten the screen, but the curvey girl from 2 Broke Girls was pretty funny in that show……so maybe.

I saw a few in-progress pics of the 34 Vicky "rebuild", but never did see what it ended up looking like. Maybe if someone has any they can post them up in the "Off Topic" section for us all to cry over.

  11. I like Tim Allan and the shows he has been in, they kind of remind me of Andy Griffith, granted they were filmed at different times and life was completely different with each show but there seemd to be a moral with both shows.

We all know Mr Allen is a car guy and I absolutely love his green Ford truck, what's not to like with a TV show that centers around hot rods and the dysfunctional family dynamic.

With Allen you know sooner or later Jay Leno will pop up and their rivalry will add more humor, lets face it, most TV is basically carp, this show should make you laugh. I plan on giving it a shot. HRP

Worth a test drive.....I have it set to DVR. Car stuff and dealing with grown up daughters.....after my wife's passing two years ago.....I can almost relate. Way back during my first stint in Detroit with GM in the mid 1980's, I spent some weekends at nearby Waterford Hills road course. Tim Allen showed up as just one of the guys. I even had a small part in thrashing with some guys to get a Corvair ready for Tim to run in a late afternoon event. I was just watching until I realized that I was probably the only person that had ever really done any serious mechanical stuff on Corvairs. I was glad to help......good ole days.

  17. how about we just put one of those frame cutouts at the garage or as door window and just watch nothing get done, then imagine yourself doing something in the garage?;)

I started the thread as Tim Allen is a car guy and the show is somewhat car related. Plus it was a slow day for me...!

We watched the first episode. We like Tim Allen and were hoping to see a bit more car stuff going on, but we were somewhat disappointed with the show. Lots of zingers and a heavy emphasis on how today’s young people don’t know how to do anything (some truth to that). I think the auto restoration shop theme was minimized in favor of the family and relationship issues that seem to dominate most TV programs these days. Tim is good but I felt I was just watching TimAllen Version 3.0. Hopefully there will be some improvement with the next episodes (which you know are already in the can).

So Home Improvement, with a resto shop as the background, same laugh track. I like Tim well enough, but nah.

    Hmmmmmmm...musta missed the 2nd one.
Perhaps living under a rock isn't a bad thing.
I guess I'll skip this one as well.

If off topic had a thread, this would be it

  26. Tried my best to watch it last night, neither funny nor good, made it about 10 minutes and that's it for me.

  27. I didn't plan on commenting but the show missed the mark in my opinion, like many pilot television shows the characters haven't developed and it takes a few episodes to get to that place.
Hopefully, Shifting Gears will turn into a entertaining show, I liked Home Improvements & Last man standing.
This show has a long way to go. HRP

Road Worthy Rescue is about the only one worth my time. Genuine likable guy and non-drama format. Plus most of his stuff actually fits in the Hamb parameters, timeline wise.

I like Tim Allen and the ‘33 in Home improvement ( as far from Hamb topic as possible lol ) is probably the reason I have been so into old cars, since I was just a kid when the show aired. Nowadays I don’t care for that car anymore but I still watch the show over and over.

I plan to give the new show a chance, but Kat Dennings doesn’t bring much to the table other than being fairly easy to look at. I hated 2 broke girls

"most TV is basically carp" -- something fishy about it?
