Technical 47 Buick straight 8

Discussion in 'Traditional Hot Rods' started by robert j kauffman, Jan 11, 2025.

  1. Anyone know where to find a fuel pump for a 47 Buick Series 40 Str.8. It's a dual action
and has been rebuilt before. I'm using a ****py 6V electric now with a regulator. It's hard to mount the pump low enough for it to prime right.

  6. With Buick phasing the engine out 72 years ago, parts have long dried up. All of the links provided are for rebuild kits or rebuilt pumps by specialty suppliers. E-Bay has various straight 8 stuff on it from time to time, and some vintage yards such as French Lake Auto have some parts. Building friendships with HAMB Buick guys has definite advantages and I swap parts with them often.

  7. Yes, great place for us old iron guys.

That's the beauty of those old fuel pumps. So well built and they can be rebuilt time and again.
Seems to me it was the beginning of the end of rebuildable components when they started crimping them together.
