My project is a 1957 Pontiac Catalina StarChief and I'm currently working up front on cleaning things up, inspection and installing new brake hardware. The only thing that I need to replace are the upper control/A arm bumpers, mine have flattened and cracked but I cannot find replacements.

Does anyone know if any others can be adapted to fit? I thought for sure they'd share parts with Buick, Olds or Chevy but that does not seem to be the case here.

Get replacement universal bumpers from Energy Suspension. Easier to install, many heights available, and last longer.

Have you looked at GM pick ups

  4. Try Fusick's Oldsmobile parts in East Windsor, Connecticut.

The uppers just stop how far the A frame drops when the wheel drops down for one reason or another. Going back to post 2 as long as it fastens to the car the same and allows the suspension travel you feel good with life is great.

Let’s see some pictures of that Pontiac! I got a 57 Catalina Chieftain 2 door myself.

Steele Rubber Products shows them. Same photo as the above E-Bay ad.

Those appear to be the lowers. I need uppers. They're a bit fatter and not as tall.

Could you cut them down some to make them work?

I'm going to remove the old ones and see how they're mounted. Thanks!

One thing about GM they didn’t like designing parts that already existed for something else. You may find matching ones from a different make or model. Aka 57 Chevy Bel-Air.

  15. Just lower the car a good bit
No upper bump stops needed then

Just Gary and Clydesdale like this.

@dmikulec have you been able to make a decision? There were a lot of ideas shared here.

  23. I found a pair of these threaded bumpers at a rubber supplies, they were the exact same size as the car ones, but a quarter of the price. They were available in different thread sizes and heights.
