I had to mini-tub my sedan & now am seeing that the glass will not go all the way down. Thinking can you install the side glass like the rear glass is installed? My gas tank & battery is were the back seat was and will not be used for much of anything else. I am installing a sliding soft top and really wouldn't care if the side windows work or not. tks in advance!!coody

I don't have a Model A, so don't know how the rear glass is installed. My first thought is, is everything there? Roll the window up and leave it up.

The stock rear windows in a Model A Tudor didn't roll all the way down due to the wheel well, they kept the glass from going down much more than about 1/2 way. I'd install the glass where it will roll down part way for ventilation if nothing else.

First off, if your top is chopped, do not cut the glass. It will work just fine in both the doors and in the back sides. I installed a small actuator to the rear window. Being able to open that window made all the difference in the world.

I agree. It's been 40 years since I've had a '30-'31 Tudor but, I recall that the back windows only rolled halfway down.

I've been going through this in my head many times while building my 31 Tudor.

So far it's been going the stock route, with the top chopped 3" this is probably the easiest. Option 2- split the side windows into 2 pieces and make the rear section of the side glass just slide straight forward. This would be the simplest as in there wouldn't be any regulators etc. In this scenario looking at the construction of a rear sliding glass truck window and /or maybe using the tracks from one would make it easier to build.

And last but not least, urethaneing the side glass in place and make the rear glass go up and down. I do like this idea as it could be down with a switch on the dash. But I haven't found enough examples to get an idea on how to build it and making it water proof enough not to harm the interior. And yes I plan on having a back seat, gotta have somewhere to set the grandkids!!

There is a rear window roll down kit for a coupe. Can you modify it to work on your rear window?

  9. You should be able to find a local glass shop that could fabricate flat, safety plate, glass based on your pattern.

I'll mention something else. On 4 door cars it sometimes helps to crack the rear window when the front is down for buffeting. I have never owned an A, so I don't know if this is true on this body. If you have the stuff, I'd suggest trying to make it work.

  11. On my non air conditioned '31 Victoria, we would open the windshield and roll those rear side windows part way down, to get air flow on hot summer days.
That rod had 140k+ miles when I sold it.
