1952-59 Ford '54 horn ring. Is there supposed to be a top half?

Not sure. This is in pretty good shape but I can't tell if the top half is broken off or its supposed to be like this. Also, this isn't a 50th anniversary edition or anything special, is it? Can someone set me straight?

Yes - it is broken off. This pic is blurry but shows the top part of the ring.. The horn ring is an accessory, not a factory item as far as I know.

You might want to save the center medallion.

Evintho…..what you have is a 53 horn ring. That horn ring can be restored to have the proper half ring on top. The bottom ring of a common standard 54 horn ring can be carefully cut off including small sections of the horizontal piece and grafted onto the accessory horn ring to replace the missing upper ring. I found a skilled welder years ago who was able to weld pot metal and then I had my restored ring replated. The graft cannot be seen and it never broke again to this date. Please don’t throw that piece away!
