I appreciate the explanation. I only posted due to a bunch of the pictures the search returned was from that thread. Hope you liked the Zingers!

Is this the '70s show rods thread now? The Boot Hill Express was so cool! A real ride that actually went down the track. Bet the driver felt ''out there'' sitting that high up.

there were 2 Boot hill express. one show car built in 1967 with a real 100 year old wooden hearse that still retained its original (fragile) glass. It was never fired up. The wheelstand exhibition boothill was a fiberglass replica. the Kustomrama site claims there were several clones built but @Tom davison once told me there was only 1 and I beleive him as he worked for Farhner back in the day and knows his stuff about custom history

Yes, I was reading about the original was allegedly used to carry James gang member Bob Younger to his grave. There's a difference in stance between the pics I posted. Possibly the original in the static shot.

There's a lot of stuff I'd be willing to do - or was, anyways - but that driver & rollbar concoction, has me sitting here un-believing. I can't imagine *any* scenario in which that rollbar would be helpful, in any way, for the driver out flappin' in the breeze. Except for static showcar or photo purposes. Glad it wasn't me. :) .
& I always liked the Boot Hill Express.

Thanks for posting this! Brings back good memories. I grew up in Iowa and the ISCA circuit came through town in January each year. Nothing else going on at that time of year there, so let's go look at the show cars!

Me too. I went down to Vets Auditorium in DSM as a little kid with my Dad to look at the show cars circa 1975.
