I recently had a engine fire in my vehicle which caused me to have 2 Hagerty claim 1 was for damage resulting damage from the engine fire claim 2 was from the damage caused by the half assed towing company that they dispatched to tow the vehicle. I so far I now on my 3rd claims adjuster and have submitted the requested information 5 times with no resolution so far. the incident occurred and was reported on 11/26. My frustration and dissatisfaction with Hagerty customer service is growing by the day. Is it me or has anybody else had similar? Please feel free to share yours.

Well, I have Hagerty but have never had to use them yet... I will be following along to see how this goes. Hopefully they get it worked out fairly.

Following as well, I’ve had Hagerty for 20 years. Never filed a claim so I’m curious to see how this works out for you.

I haven't got Hagerty and thankfully haven't had to file a claim ever for one of my "good cars", but on a few other forums I've read horror stories as of late for people who have dealt with them. Seems like customer service has gone down exponentially, one fella was fighting just to get someone on the line or to call him back for nearly a month for his Buick GS after the first initial pictures were sent in....sounds like you're in the same boat. They did eventually make him "whole" as much as one can be, but it did take months.

  7. With all insurance companies - the actual
type of insurance you purchase determines
the limitations of pay out in the event
of a claim that is covered.

I just recently insured one of my cars with Hagerty, it was rather painless, all done on-line and a phone call. Had a problem with CA. DMV , as Hagerty somehow added a couple numbers to my VIN; this was cleared up with a phone call. Customer service was quick and helpful...can not give any answers about claim service.

I love Hagerty but I get bare minimum coverage. Very reasonably priced!

I have Haggerty Ins. Had a fire and the two cars burned were insured through Haggerty. They paid my claims promptly without any problems.

Considering two holidays, or three if you separate New Years, and the hundreds if not thousands of claims Hagerty is inundated now, I wouldn’t expect the OP’s claims to be at the top of the pile for resolution.

I’m just hoping Hagerty has adequate reinsurance to remain solvent after things settle down from the fires in California.

They’re a relatively small company as far as insurance companies go.

I've had two claims with Hagerty and both times they bent over backwards to make sure I was happy with he results.

Is Hagerty a specialty insurance co. for vintage restored cars and hot rods or even race cars ?

  14. I don’t believe Hagerty insures daily drivers.
You would have to give them the specifics
about your vehicle to see if they will insure it.

  15. @JD Miller - Yes. Both my '57 and El Camino are modified cars and Haggerty insures them with stated value policies. I hired a professional appraiser to write up what they are worth and the policies are based on that.

I've had Hagerty for awhile and two claims, the rear glass shattered on my Buick while sitting in the shop, and a rear dent in the 32 roadster. Both claims were handled promptly and satisfactory.

I went through a hail storm in my 66 c10, I called them and they had a claims adjuster out the next day. They were very fair and had a check issued within a week.

I have had a wonderful experience with them when I got a fender bender.

  19. GOOD TIME TO UP THE VALUE OF YOUR CARS EVERYONE, you know inflation, and cost to replace it. also ask if it cost a little more to keep the car in the event of a total loss. One of my insurers actually emailed about upping the value. cover your butts.

Also put an appletag in your classis 25 bucks each. its easy to add the app to any smart phone, in case something happens, also for your trailers.

I had a fire in my house 3 yrs ago. Haggerty was fantastic. Paid me fairly and quick. My son had a tent garage collapse on his car roof due to snow. Haggerty came thru for him too.

    Very satisfied with Haggerty.

Why stated rather than agreed? I don't know but wouldn't think there'd be a big difference in cost

I've had Haggerty for years and one claim, was at a car show and a storm blew in and a piece of debris hit the back of the cab on my 30 pickup damaging it. I called Haggerty and explained what had happened and explained I was going to fix the damage myself. They had me send them pictures of the damage and get an estimate from a body shop and sent me a check for the amount of the estimate. I've had insurance with them for over 20 years and never a problem, have three cars insured with them now.

I have Hagerty, but have never had to make a claim.

On the other hand, I have had problems with just about every other insurance company.

I now file a complaint the instant I have any trouble: https://www.insurance.ca.gov/01-consumers/101-help/index.cfm

In my experience, at-least, this has helped the offender find Jesus really quickly.

It is important to note that when filing a complaint, it is absolutely necessary to spell the name of the company correctly. Don't expect them to just know.

There is only on g in Hagerty.

  24. Being in the lowrider scene i personally know a few people that both wrecked their car due to brakes going out, fire and were considered totaled or theft and all of them in under 30 days got cut a check for their car and given the option to buy it back as salvaged or give it up but i will tell you the checks were VERY generous enough to replace the car no problem in same condition they had it. they only had to file the claim once and that same week had a guy come look at it if it wasnt a theft usually the next day, and the process starts to pay the claim starts, one guy got his check in 2 weeks. the ones that were theft they waited a some days to see if it was found, those were the ones paid closer to the 30 days. ive had haggerty for over 15 years but never had to file a claim but have peace of mind and sleep easy seeing how good they were to the guys i know that filed. i will say though, here in so cal they have a few special guys sometimes their own customers that are the inspectors and claim adjusters one of my friends that owns a body shop was offered a position so that might be why they are so fast with their claims here in los angeles

I've had Hagerty for 30 years. I had one major claim (fire) and they were there, no hassle!

I've had Hagerty over 20 years now. 2 claims (both Shoebox Fords) and they've been pretty hassle free...but maybe I should change to another car?

Glad to hear all the good stories. I have had my Hagerty policy for somewhere around 15 or so years now and have multiple cars on it, but haven’t needed to use it yet.
