From Day 1, I always thought that Nerfs went to the heart of what customs are all about. They allow you to see through them to how the body leading and trailing edge is finished off. Sometimes they are almost fully functional, other times minimal, but always about the bodywork.
I don’t have a picture but always thought the nerf/push bars looked cool attached to quick change rear ends. Usually attached using the bell bolts.
I too like that "minimalist" design, tried to find some examples on the internet but they seem pretty elusive, maybe my search skills are slipping, I usually do pretty good. I don't recall what era these were common to, anyone have some photos?
Always liked the looks of the rear wheel side nerf bar on a street driven highboy, but often thought on the real deal oval tracks of the day the 90 degree bar nearest the tire tread might best be angled slightly forward to prevent wheel contact & lock up should it be, so to speak, pressed to purposeful use.
Not exactly the pic I was looking for some of the nerf bars mounted to quick changes are more elaborate forming somewhat of a cage around the center section.
I remember when Nerf first came out. I have to admit that’s the toy not the auto part. I love Nerf bars. If I ever get around to adding something to my coupe, I believe it needs some nerf on nerf action.
