I used to collect vintage decals but as I get older Im realizing Im not going to do anything with them (except gaze at them lovingly haha!) and my sons have zero interest so what to do with this kind of stuff? Recently a young HAMBer mentioned in a thread that he was in to the car club plaques and wanted to collect them from his state of Minnesota. My dad is from Minnesota and I have his jacket and plaque (early to mid 50's). I messaged the young HAMBer and told him he could have my dads stuff. As I was boxing it up I was thinking what else could I send along. I grabbed a bunch of the old little books and a whole bunch of my old decals and sent them along as a little extra surprise. He was very grateful, I feel like everything went to a good home with him. Some guys say they dont care what happens to their stuff when they pass on, but I like getting it into the hands of someone young that can enjoy it and keep the old car hobby alive.
@CG that's the coolest thing I've heard in alooonnng time ! Congrats to you and I bet your dad was smiling too knowing that his stuff is in the hands of someone that will both appreciate and respect it. Who knows where their stuff will end up when they go, another hoarder, flea market or maybe a trash heap but you will know where your dad's stuff is ! ...
My dads 87 and these days its a little hard to gauge where his heads at with universe. He might think its great or he might be unhappy. So I didnt bother to tell him. I think a younger him would have been pleased.
Scotty hisself is not around anymore, but Scotty's Muffler Shop is still alive and well in San Bernardino doing quality custom work for hot rods and off-road vehjcles.
Check out the white shirt the man is wearing. I doubt that its connected to @Ryan, but I thought it was interesting.
Hello, Nice find of an old sticker/decal. That particular name as shown is/was popular back in 1959 when we saw the nice Modified Roadster sitting in the pits of the huge gathering of the top drag racers in the USA at the So Cal Riverside Raceway drag race event. Here is a short movie I took of the fabulous roadster that stood out from the rest of the race cars in the active pits. Jnaki As long as we are on old stickers or decals, I have a request. I would like to have a photo or at least a good drawing of the original Yellow C&O Stick Hydro sticker/decal. I had a couple when I had the C&O Stick Hydro installed in my 1958 Impala. But, after 8 years of ownership and handing out plenty of Yellow C&O Stickers/Decals and a looming college ahead of me, I sold the Impala to a younger friend for his new trials and tribulations in the Bixby Knolls scene. This is a rare one from the beginning of 1960 era when the company first started and I was one of the first customers for my 58 Impala. The odd thing was, when the original Lion’s Dragstrip Museum was first opened, I saw a red primer 41 Willys sedan with black wheels and black tow bar. There was a 671 supercharged SBC motor sitting on a stand behind the Willys Coupe. Then, when the new version of the Lion’s Dragstrip Museum was created, the whole complex grew and the displays were changed with a more complete bit of nostalgia. So, in the current displays, the 671 SBC motor sits near the SWC’s Swindler 2 Willys Coupe. But, connected to the 671 SBC motor is a Stick Hydro of the early 60s era. A Yellow C&O Stick Hydro sticker is displayed. Does anyone have a yellow C&O sticker/decal in their files that you can post here on the HAMB? With this C&O sticker on the rear side window, was the look on the 58 Impala in the 1960-61 time slot. It was nice to have the only C&O Stick Hydro on any street car in So Cal. But, on our outside of Bixby Knolls area hot rod/cruiser gatherings, not one challenge for the late night cruises to other locations. With the C&O sticker removed, then there were a few challenges taken care of in the late night adventures. So, does the C&O sticker automatically tell others that this is one fast car or were they unaware of what a C&O Stick Hydro was at the time in the early drags and cruising? YRMV Several years later, this 41 Willys Pickup was rolled out at Lion's Dragstrip and started winning in the Gas Coupe/Sedan Class races. If anyone has a yellow circular C&O sticker or decal, please post it for all to see. It was the start of the stick hydro revolution on the street and definitely at the drags. The C&O Hydro Company was a great competitor to the already established B&M Company. But, the difference being, the C&O folks actually did the modifications to the stock transmissions and did custom installs in a wide variety of hot rods and cruisers, as well as drag racing cars. B&M just sold the modified version of their transmissions.
Some very cool older decals that were on my friends tool cabinet, so this is just a photograph that I shot of it.
There are a couple websites that offer vintage waterslide decals. One of them is not easily navagatable, but they have tons of stuff.
there are plenty on ebay but they are stickers, not waterslide like the good old days. plenty of originals as well, I just sold a bunch.
Nice view of the Etiwanda Generating Station #’s 1 and 2 in the back ground. Lucky to see it. Must be a “clear” day. They were both on line by 1956.
