FWIW my motorhome (498 ci BBC) came with side dump dual exhausts but no crossover communication side-to-side.
I disliked it. Standing on the side, you could only hear four cylinders. I added a crossover pipe and it mellowed out the sound and the mileage went from 8.5 mpg to 9.0 mpg. YRMV

I agree, loud is cool at first, but it gets old real fast.

Sweet, I'd bet that over the next few months you get a lot of compliments on how great it sounds from folks. You don't always have to be able to hear them from inside the car to have a great sounding set of pipes.

  5. I just thought about this, the general public would look at us funny and think we were crazy the way we are oooohing and aaaahing over an exhaust system, but to us car guys this is a work of art.

The general public may consider me a lunatic, full of silly notions and information.
    The feeling is mutual.

I bet that tiny human in the back seat likes the new exhaust.

The Barillaro brothers are expert craftsman in all areas of hot rodding, Mike is especially adept at fabricating custom headers that's why I call him "The Exhaust Wizard".

with the headers and that size pipe, that X will do zero...but it's cool A/F so I would leave it,,,

You probley lost low end grunt, and killed the 60' time at the drags... but the cool factor pegs the needle... impressive job on the exhaust...for me.... I would add another V band and make a test pipe that fits where the muffler is.. then you could run straight pipe or mufflers at will...probley find it not all that loud with out mufflers... the shop made tips look perfect...

Ever since she was a baby she has loved riding in this car. More so than my others. Yes she doesn’t have to wear the ear muffs now with the quiet exhaust

The white headers were made from a 36 torque tube by Mike and Jim. They also built the stainless headers.

Sweet system! It's wise to have the center section removeable for future maintenance. Even though the 2 1/2" pipes may be a tad oversize for a flattie, there is still a little more back pressure, a.k.a. resistance of flow, than the straight side pipes, which helps, and I'll bet it sounds Bitchin'!

Back pressure is a myth. But that's a discussion for a different thread.

I keep checking in looking for a video update.

I don’t have a YouTube channel so don’t know how I could get the videos of the sound on here.

I bet the x-pipe and overall pipe size are doing a lot of muffling and making the sound deeper on his setup. I bet if he changed the pipe size to something more optimal for power and no other changes the exhaust would wind up being a lot more obnoxious.
