looks more like a Chevy 250, or similar straight six. If it has a number, it would be stamped on the housing, just below the cap, and hard to see without some cleanup.
Cross reference the number stamped into the brass tip of the rotor at rockauto.com: https://www.rockauto.com/en/partsearch/ Is there a part number stamped into the breaker plate, possibly underneath the points?
It looks just like the distributor in my Checker, which has a Chevy engine...that design was used from 62 through 74. AMC used a smorgasboard of electric parts, it's possible that the 232/258 had a Chevy distributor at one point. I didn't find any on the the internets. But the bottom end of them looks just like this one, so, who knows?
Yeah this one has NO numbers on it anywhere. Seems odd, maybe it had a tag that fell off Anyways thanks everyone for the Id!
classic parts does list an aftermarket new distributor, that may explain the lack of numbers, and the casting looks smoother. https://classicparts.com/1963-70-di...h9N4kPwk-56oo06tWRhk3L_wM97GzsP62jHnaG0xpS-1K maybe?
