I agree my favorite also but you have to buy the matching Wanless sculpture which may bring more money that the full sized model?

  5. I don’t think the sculpture will bring
more than the car - but they should stay together.

  7. Cool car, but I've always wondered why Wanlass left the fuel hand-pump attached to Moon tank.

It would make sense if the tank was inside the cockpit next to the driver, but in this case, will someone ride along, sitting on the hood, and reach down to pump up the fuel pressure when it drops?o_O

We had a fuel tank and pump in the front of our drag roadster in the 60s. Crew member'd check it out before 1/4-mile run.

I'd need to delete the Moon tank and replace the windshield with a stock (but chopped) one.

If you look at the main featured cars coming up for auction.. whoa. They're not messing around... some good stuff

  12. This is an interesting rod.
Often a model car or art piece is created from the life size car.
In this case, the life size car was created based on the Wanless sculpture.
No, you can't start changing things on this rod because they don't suit you. You have to respect the artist that created the sculpture.

My memory isn't very good but I think I remember one of the the large Sduced sculptures bringing over $150K? Pete & Jake's has the large version of Flat Out sitting in their show room. Several years ago I was involved in an auction selling a smaller version of First Love. I hung in there for a long time and just plain exhausted my limit and when I quit it sold to the next bid. Always wondered about that?

If you go to Mecum/Kissimmee and click on Richard Muntz Collection and scroll down a page or two to the collectables when you click on the sculpture there is also a picture of the car along side the sculpture.

  20. I've been invited to visit the collection several times since 2012.
I believe the auction is only a portion of the Munz Collection. I have not heard what the plans are for the remainder of the collection.

I have also seen the collection a few times when it was in Richard’s building in Madison, saying it was impressive is slighting the vehicles, equipment, engine’s, and automobilia that encompassed the collection.
One of the notable cars was the Tom Prufer ‘32. Richard purchased this car from a friend of mines estate after he suddenly passed away. I was involved with preparing the car after it was idle for a few months. Richard drove the car 90 miles back to Madison after the purchase was completed.

I had the big car price wrong, I had a friend tell me $115K Sculpture was a bargain compared to previous sales. Maybe that market is getting soft?

How the hell do you navigate Mecum's site and find the right prices?

You probably have to be a registered buyer or seller...I looked in the FAQ, but saw no mention of the sale results other than it sold...
