  2. If you are signed up with the Mecum website just login, go to Kissimmee, go to view lots, pick the day that you want to view the prices.
It looks like the prices listed reflect either buyers fee or sellers fee. The hammer prices were less than Mecum shows.
    Hammer prices;
    Lot #219 Bonneville 34 W/flathead -- 50k
    #220 full size Wanlass/Ardun roadster - 140k
    #221 Wanlass sculpture -- 70k
    #225 Breece 32 recreation -- 67k
    #229 32 5 wdw w/ Cragar 4 cyl -- 60k
    #230 Prufer 32 - w/bbc - 50k
    #232 Thelen 32 - w/3278 sbc- 57k
    #234 36 Ford convt sedan w/fh - 30k
    #235 36 phaeton w/350sbc- 45k
    #238 40 cpe w/331 cad- 38k

    #242 46 Ford custom w/fh - 37k
    #243 50 Merc convert w/fh- 37k
    #245 49 Merc cpe w/fh - 47k
    #248 32 4dr w/350sbc - 28k

The above listed sales, I believe to be well bought considering the heritage of some of them, how some fit as traditional etc, all were real metal and the sale prices were way less than today's cost to build or have built to the level as presented at the auction.
If these prices represent current market value, I would be disappointed as a seller.
Some of the other rods sold for prices that were surprising, one way or another, I didn't list them.

@Curt R, how much did the Tommy Foster 32 Ford Roadster go for if you don't mind sharing...it had 2-300K as an estimated value?

Didn't see it in the auction, but he had a blue 36 roadster that was my favorite.

that's pretty cool. It was a really clean ride with a fair bit of notoriety/provenance...Thanks Curt.

How about the Jim Busby and Dick Martin 32 5w's? The Breece clone seemed real low for the caliber of build.

I guess that old saying to build them to enjoy them rather than make money on them holds true in many cases.

It's still relatively new for the high dollar bidding to go to the Hotrod/Custom icons let alone the well built unknowns done by hi bar shops. The older stuff just doesn't resonate like the later automobiles and the Masarati/Exotics.

You also have to figure our changing world and the Automobile are at a crossroads in some ways. I am not trying to be doom and gloom but the times they are changing...I don't think I'll have to worry but a lot of people that collect these cars are using them like stocks/investments. We don't know how they are going to regulate driving these things years from now. I was chatting with a friend the other day and he was saying big changes are coming our way regarding how cars are certified and regulated...I suppose old stuff will be treated as old stuff as they weren't built the same as standards and will likely be given leniency as such. I don't follow these big Auctions but looking at them recently because of Threads like this I find there's a huge plethora of stuff available. Much is not with the provenance of the rides we're looking at though.

If I remember correctly it was a Brizio build. We parked beside each other at Victoria Deuce Days several years ago and he was traveling with his grandson, both very nice guys.
