  1. ...See if you can get it cheap. Even if you ultimately part it out, there's alot of parts there to make money on. I'm not promoting parting it out, just thinking if it is too much to get it back on the road.

I understand this distraction deal. I keep thinking about the 63 convertible I know about and even called the guy this past Saturday somewhat prompted by this thread… I just need to stay FOCUSED on my Fairlane and Merc. But, the chase is one of my favorite parts of this hobby.

  3. When it warms up and this &@“$#%£€ snow melts, I’ll stop by and talk to the guy who lives there.

Yep. Sometimes I wish I was one of those guys that only collected one type of car....alas, my conundrum.

BTW, this one is for sale in Missouri. Just a reference for you Jeff. :D

Yea, I only need one of each. But, there are lots of cars I still haven't had so I am always open to new ones. :D

Oh, and here are the wheels I need the Galaxie for. Just seems like they belong on one since they are 5 on 4-1/2 and 14's... I can envision it now...sitting low, top down...

  6. This is what distractions do! I’ve been thinking about the 63 I posted about earlier and wondering about engines. My guess is it’s probably a 223. However, what is the standard V-8 in 63? 292? Agh!!! Got to finish Papaw, then concentrate on a Tri-5. Too many neat old cars, not enough time or money.

  7. Early '63 was 292. 63 1/2 was 289.

IMG_2909.jpeg Gotta love it! “ I have these wheels and tires I need a car to fit them to!” That is truly building from the ground up.

My '63 crew cab. Easier to have the whole family in this than the convertible or coupe. IMG_5851.JPG

It's hiding behind my wife's little pinto powered Hillman pickup, but my 500XL sported the original paint, a Q-code 427/4-speed, and leather upholstery that the original owner's wife surprised him with.... This was a few years ago, and I sold it to have the money to restore Leland Grantz' 50 Chevy convert, and it was worth every penny of it..... 427 garage 003.jpg

My dad had a 63.5 Galaxie 500. 390 4spd turquoise car in the early 70's in high school. Such cool cars! I love the bows in the top that make them look like a convertible top stretched over the top frame. Lots of attention to detail on these cars.

No. Last year for the 292 was 1962.
Early 63 had the 223 six and the base v8 was the 260. The 260 was replaced by the 289 by mid year. There was an optional 2 barrel 352 and two-four barrel variations of the 390, the 300 hp four barrel hydraulic cam version, and the solid lifter 340 hp four barrel ”police” engine.

Early in the year there were a couple of 406 engines, but they were dropped from the option list when a couple of 427s became available.

I'm pretty sure both our '64s had 4V 352s. What were other '64 choices?
