History 1939/1940 Ford old car show pictures.

Discussion in 'Traditional Hot Rods' started by djweaz, Jan 20, 2025.

  1. I get a kick out of old car show pictures either in B&W or Early Color, or people proud of their rides showing things that they did to set them apart from the others. I read some place that in the mid to late 50s EVERYBODY had a 39/40 in high school. I’m thinking nothing newer than the mid 70s.
    Here are some of mine that I have in my collection I scanned in. IMG_5264.jpeg IMG_5262.jpeg IMG_5261.jpeg IMG_5260.jpeg IMG_5259.jpeg IMG_5258.jpeg IMG_5256.jpeg IMG_5255.jpeg IMG_5254.jpeg

This should be a great thread. I only wish I had some pictures to contribute

    Here’s a few. 40’s are wonderful cars

  5. The reason my '40 coupe has flames and 5 spokes.

  6. Now that’s what I’m screaming!! In my opinion, 40s were one of the most iconic cars to make a hot rod or Kustom into and there aren’t a dozen of them at every cruise in or car show you go to. I wanted one since I was 9 years old took me until I was 50.

  7. And nothing like a flamed 40 they look awesome with them. I love yours.

  8. Love the El Matador It is a shame what happened to it in 1993 IMG_5309.jpeg IMG_5310.jpeg IMG_5311.jpeg IMG_5314.jpeg IMG_5316.jpeg IMG_5315.jpeg IMG_5306.jpeg IMG_5305.jpeg IMG_5304.jpeg IMG_5303.jpeg IMG_5301.jpeg IMG_5296.jpeg IMG_5295.jpeg

  9. They bring so much inspiration and are much of the reason so many people still treasure them today

  10. I hope these are ok, not car show pictures. A friends brothers 40 Ford. Yes that's white vinyl top material on the roof and deck lid. I saw the car probably 15 years ago, and it had rusted under the vinyl. I think he did this in the 60's and he still has the car to this day. I did hear that he was removing the vinyl and redoing the car so he could drive it again, the was maybe 10 years ago. I haven't heard anymore about it since. It had been sitting in a nice garage for a long time, so it was kept out of the weather. I believe the rest of the car was still in good shape. If it was me, I'd match the blue paint and just repaint the roof and deck lid.

  11. That is definitely something different. I don’t think I have ever seen a 40 Ford with a vinyl top before. I can guarantee I have NEVER seen a vinyl trunk lid. But then that is the purpose of this thread old school pictures of 39s/40s showing customizations that were done back then and what people were doing with them.
