I am seeking help identifying the car in front of this old Sinclair service station in the Dayton Ohio area. Its not much to go on and the image quality is low but I am sure someone here on the HAMB knows what this old timer is.
The pic is too fuzzy to see any fine details. Curved rear fenders were used from ‘15-‘25. Top irons are a 2 man style used from ‘15-‘22. Wheels appear to be non-demountable rim type which were phased out beginning in ‘19. The kerosene taillight was used on non-electrified cars up till ‘25. The rear panel of the top with single window and no roll up panel was sumpin like ‘15-‘17 My best guess is that this is an non-electric car from the ‘15-‘17 era
Are you sure that was taken in the Dayton Ohio area? The picture is blurry but that background doesn't look like the Dayton area at all. Any idea on where this station was located?
colorized photo Hello, It sure looks like a 1923-24 Ford Phaeton model with the unusual molded fenders. Here are similar angle photos of modern car with molded fenders. Then the top shown can be from any version to a 27 Phaeton. But, the original phaeton should be a 23 or 24. Jnaki Here are two comparison versions. The original photo versus modern era builds or restorations. 1923 1924
That makes more sense. Pottersburg is not exactly close to Dayton. It is closer to Columbus. But that picture brought back memories of stories my grandpa used to tell me about when he traveled those parts in old model Ts. At first glace the man standing with the manual in hand reminded me of him. He was an engineer and loved manuals so if he had a problem he would have the manual out. He made a lot of repairs or helped with them while traveling as mechanics were still learning about cars (his words).
