looking to hide some new wires that I'm going to run on my new project.don't want to see the bright colored wires and don't want to use the newer black ribbed plastic stuff so does anyone know of a company that sell the old stock cloth lookin' stuff that the wires go in?or does anyone know of another type of stuff that may look like the old cloth stuff.maybe from a hardware store?

Just a thought, a lot of the old harnesses were wrapped with Monkey Grip friction tape. Its still available in some hardware stores and such and is also good for wrapping hammer handles, sling hardware that ya don't want to rattle and other stuff.

I was just looking the other day in Bratton's, Mike's Affordable A's,a nd I think Snyder's in OH has the wire...and the bullet ends..and connectors...the wire I think was 14 guage (for 6 volts) and .55 a foot....and a choice of several different colors...

You might look at the stuff from http://www.mcmaster.com. They have some 1200 degree fibergl*** sleeve insulation that looks real nice. I have used a lot of it. Comes in black and all sizes and for a decent price. It looks similiar to the original stuff but a lot tougher and its easy to cut and use. Type in fibergl*** sleeve in their search.

Fellow HAMBer "desoto" a.k.a Skip, not to be confused with "DE SOTO" makes the braiding. Shoot him a PM and ask what he can do for you.

  10. Try Del City. Comes in differant sizes but the stuff is hard to get wires through.

Believe it or not, my local Carquest store gets the old creosoted-cloth sleeving for me. Special order of course, but their price is really good and they can get all sizes.

I'll second this one. He owns a loom that can cloth wrap any harness into looking old.
