Actually for my Dad’s car, and he’s got a place in Minnesota that will be doing the chrome. Not sure of the name.

David on the Ford Barn wrote the book on 32 restorations, contends the N/C co. in Pennsylvania has the best contours & fit.

My correction, the N/C industries in Sayre Pa. 570-888-1821 Bob Petrushek is the contact & makes the windshield frames closed body 5w & sedans raw steel $600 & sprt cpe./b-400 $630 plating $400 up charge, will begin a new supply in Feb. I did inquire with regards to S.S. & he said the material is not forgiving enough & cracks when fed into the dies.

An interesting note from Bob at N/C Industries, the bubbling on an old, revived frame when plated is associated with the deep pitting within the confines of the frame, unseen & can often be so near the surface the acid dip to remove the rust in the prep operation generates a paper-thin exposed surface & ultimately bubbles the chrome plating. He has aways suggested to opt. for new material when plating & paint only on the revived frames to save the wallet.

I have never seen one done in stainless.
(although I did consider making my own and if going this way, stainless would be the preferred choice over mild steel).

Maybe one of the vendors can try to make 'em out of copper nickel. Malleable and strong, it polishes up like nickel plating, and slowly tarnishes to a dull copper colour:

Aluminum stock is extruded in a variety of shapes & configurations & I believe several examples are currently available but not certain if made from welded flat stock or extrusions, no clue regarding quality of fit & finish, nor if hinged swing out or only fixed examples are available. A big plus of course is raw or polished could save the $ or even plated if so desired. I neglected to inquire if N/C Industries equipment could manufacture aluminum examples, might be worth a phone call.

I have noticed UP makes parts for semis also. Suspect that that is what Safety Supply mainly sells. Proceed with caution- but I am interested too. I don't think they actually have them in stock though...

Not sure if UPI & Safety Supply are joined at the hip, however I believe they do in fact share products on each other's web sites

A bit off topic but curious to know if anyone has used the Mr. Roadster P.U. aluminum frame? The Speedway Motors web site lacks quality photos & show what appears to be 45 degree unwelded corners all around with the top hinge area removeable for glass installation while the original steel Ford units had welded & finished bottom corners. also wondering with regards to fit, finish & how well the body to frame gasket fits
