    Let's finish the taillights.

I have no idea where the real CK has its gas fill. It is certainly not thru the tail pan like a stock '33-34. It is probably in the trunk. I see @bobwop cursing me out every time he has to fill the car and remove trunk contents. Let's be honest, Bob is not someone I ever want on my bad side. I hear his record is 4 for 4 but that is a story for another time. ;)

I decided to use magnets to hold the tail light in on the driver side and use a TANKS fill cap that is similar to a modern car. It is completely hidden from the outside, yet keeps fumes and any spillage out of the trunk or passenger compartments. The magnets have 35# pull and are strong enough to keep the tail light secure yet allow the light to be able to be removed by hand.

A couple of items that I was wrestling with since I have had the project besides the taillight/gas fill situation are the engine placement and lack of pedals on the chassis.

First off, the engine IMO sat way too far forward. There was too much firewall clearance and marginal harmonic balancer and water pump clearance on the front side. After much fitting, it was determined 2" of rearward movement was what the doctor ordered. We also needed shock mounts.

After pulling the body on Sunday, those projects were completed yesterday.

    Pedals are next.

Over the weekend, I was able to finish welding the motor mounts and pedal attachment brackets.

Next week will be Brake and Fuel Lines.

    Pictures to follow this week.

    Today was very productive.

Body Undercarriage, Firewall, and Wheel wells are sanded and painted.

While my helper was sanding, I was running fuel lines and brake lines. I also was able to mount the Fuel Filter and get more parts ordered. All in all, we are heading forward.

At the end of the weekend, here is what we have:

A chassis, assembled, with brake and fuel lines, fuel tank, suspension, etc.

New hardware for the suspension comes tomorrow and will be changed with the mock up hardware in there now. NEVER REUSE NYLOCK FASTENERS. Just don't.

The goal for this week is to finish my end of the build and get it ready for paint/body work. Body needs to go on the chassis as well as have access holes put in for the MC's and Fuel Pump access.

Changed the front spindles and brakes to a 5 lug pattern versus the Knock Off style that was on the car. The rear will be changed later.

Also finished assembly of the chassis, installed the engine, transmission, and drive shaft, and bled the hydraulic clutch.

    Body goes on tomorrow.

    Body is on.

My portion of the project is finished.

I will be talking with the shop that is finishing the car for Bob at some point over the weekend.

This thread makes me wanna build my version of the car that made fell in love with Hot Rods in first place and always learn more and more about the subject (even learned english just to search info about it and other cars that "ate my brain" as a teenager), I'd dubbed it as "The Brazilian Kid".
I will do a few sketches this week to see how my idea works!

TLC Restorations is on the project.

First order of business is to get it fully assembled, exhaust run, glass installed, wiring completed, seat fitted, etc.

After everything is fitted, tested and dialed in, it gets blown apart for paint.

We're on the clock and the cash register dial is rolling.

I am going to forego the side pipes.

I am going to go with the Red steelies and hub caps/beauty ring.

Please offer your observations and advise on wheel/tire size for front and rear.

    Are those 46 Ford hubcaps?

Thanks for following along and helping me with the project

Looking good Bob. I know I don't need to say it, but boy those rear wheels are hideous.

    Thanks.

I believe it is very common to use "rollers" when building a car.

The finished car is going to wear the red steel wheels with beauty rings and hubcaps.

At this juncture, I am considering Coker as the source for Genie wheels. I would love to learn of another source
